The benefits of recharging employees at home
Allowing an employee to charge their company vehicle directly at home. Is it a good or bad idea? How does it work? To address these questions, MobilityPlus France has organized several webinars on this topic since the beginning of the year. What does home charging entail?
"Charging at an employee’s home" generally refers to charging a company-owned electric (or rechargeable hybrid) vehicle at an employee’s residence as part of a corporate fleet.
Companies that own vehicle fleets are turning to this issue due to the rise of electric vehicles. But it must be admitted that it is a daunting and technical topic. Companies don’t know where to start.
Yet, it offers many advantages and should be viewed as a complement to the charging solutions available to a company to optimize the use of its vehicle fleet.
Thus, when an employee uses a company vehicle that can be parked at their home (service car, mobile office vehicle, etc.), being able to charge it at home provides convenience for the employee and ensures that the employer encourages the adoption of this new mode of transportation. Technically, installing a charging station at the employee’s home is simple and can be completed fairly quickly by a qualified IRVE electrician. It is the practical and economic aspects of implementing this solution that require a comprehensive understanding of the topic.
Professional charging: a corporate policy
Companies are increasingly replacing their commercial vehicles with electric ones. Often dissatisfied with hybrid engines and discouraged by taxes on internal combustion vehicles or rising fossil fuel prices, businesses are seriously turning to electric options.
Purchasing electric vehicles is not enough. The entire charging infrastructure must also be considered in advance of the purchase. Home charging should complement charging at the workplace and while on the road. Finally, it’s necessary to coordinate the entire process.

It is also possible to issue a charging card for personal use, allowing the charger to be used for another vehicle, for example. This tracking ensures transparent usage of the charger for both employers and employees.
In the future, it is highly likely that chargers will be able to automatically recognize the vehicle being charged, and our solutions will be ready to track real-time charging for these vehicles without relying on charging cards.
