Leapmotor begins production of the B10 in Zaragoza

Leapmotor is no longer content with exporting its vehicles from China; it now produces them in Europe as well. The Chinese brand has recently started manufacturing its electric SUV B10 in Saragossa, Spain. This production takes place within a Stellantis factory, marking a new step in strengthening their partnership. Through this partnership, Leapmotor aims to increase its sales worldwide, especially in Europe. As a compact SUV offered at an aggressive price point, the B10 is one of its key assets for capturing the European market. Manufacturing it in Spain should enable it to benefit from substantial subsidies that will further enhance its appeal. The B10 won’t be the only model from the brand produced in Spain for long. Following it, the compact electric sedan B05 will also be assembled at Stellantis’ factory in Saragossa.

After several months of preparation, Leapmotor has just begun producing the B10 at Stellantis’ factory in Saragosse. This facility already manufactures the Peugeot E-208, Opel Corsa Electric, and Lancia Ypsilon. This launch marks a new step in the closer relationship between Leapmotor and Stellantis Group. The group owns 51% of Leapmotor International, which sells the brand’s vehicles outside China. Now, Stellantis not only distributes these vehicles but also actively participates in their production, bringing its global industrial expertise, manufacturing excellence, and quality standards. Leapmotor contributes its innovation capabilities and technical skills. Although it originated in China, Leapmotor’s ambitions are now global, with Europe holding a strategic position. The B10, now manufactured in Zaragoza, is a modern, compact, versatile, and comfortable electric SUV. With it, Leapmotor enters the C-segment, the largest in the European market. The brand offers it with a choice between a 56.2 kWh battery and a 67.1 kWh battery. The latter provides up to 434 km of range compared to 361 km for the former. Both batteries power an engine that delivers 218 horsepower and a maximum torque of 240 Nm. Its bold design combines elegant curves with dynamic lines. Comfortable and spacious, its interior can adapt to various needs, offering a relaxed and pleasant driving experience. The B10 is a strategic model in Leapmotor’s offensive strategy, priced very competitively, starting at less than 30,000 euros.
The Benefits of Production in Spain

The production of the B10 in Spain could soon make this price even more attractive. It will allow the B10 to avoid European customs duties of 30.7% applied to electric vehicles from China. Assembled in Zaragoza, the B10 is also expected to benefit from certain national purchase subsidies. In France, for example, it significantly improves its eco-score and brings it closer to the eligibility criteria for the EU subsidy. It might even receive an additional boost if its battery cells are produced in Europe. The purchase subsidy could then reach up to 6,100 euros. It’s clear why the decision to produce in Spain holds a strategic position in Leapmotor’s international development. It also embodies a new model of industrial cooperation combining Chinese technology with European production.

This new industrial partnership is not intended to stop at the production of the B10. Just three days after its launch, Leapmotor announced that the B05 would also be manufactured in Zaragoza. The B05 is a compact electric sedan designed by the brand to attract newer generations of innovative city dwellers. With its elegant and robust design, it combines simplicity with power, creating a futuristic aesthetic rooted in urban style. Highly agile and easy to handle, the B05 offers an entirely new driving experience. Its production in Zaragoza could begin in the third quarter of 2027, followed by two more Leapmotor models. The Chinese brand plans to invest 200 million euros in the facility for annual production of 208,000 electric vehicles. Other Stellantis factories in Spain, particularly those in Madrid, might also benefit.
