Production of the Leapmotor B10 has begun in Spain. The European version features a larger battery.

Leapmotor and Stellantis began production of the electric B10 at their facility in Figueruelas near Zaragoza on October 16, 2026. The first vehicles will reach European customers between December 2026 and January 2027, with the local version featuring a larger battery, increased range, and a rear windshield wiper.

Danilo Annese, the new head of Leapmotor International, called the B10 “the first car from a Chinese brand produced in Europe.” While the accuracy of this description can be debated, Stellantis’ level of commitment leaves no doubt. The company took slightly over a year to prepare the production line, with the first pre-production units already built in August.

The European B10 differs from the version produced in China. It has a battery that is 1.6 kWh larger, a range that is 16 km longer according to WLTP standards, and a rear windshield wiper. However, it is not clear whether these changes will affect the price in Poland.

Factory with 43 Years of History Receives Two Leapmotor Models

The Figueruelas plant has been in operation for 43 years and has produced over 10 million cars to date. It employs around 4,400 people, with an annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles. Another advantage is its supply chain network, as about 80% of Spain’s automotive manufacturing capacity is located within a 300 km radius.

The introduction of the B10 created approximately 450 new manufacturing jobs. The entire industrialization project involved around 600 people, including new hires and those transferred from other locations. The factory implemented rotating morning and afternoon shifts along with a permanent night shift.

B10 won’t be the only Leapmotor vehicle from Saragossa. Annese confirmed that production of B05, sold in China as Lafa 5, will begin there in the first quarter of 2027. Future models from the brand are set to go to other Stellantis factories in Europe, though no specific locations or timelines have been given.

Batteries are also produced in Spain

Approximately 30 km from the car assembly plant in Mallén, Leapmotor’s first European battery factory was launched. Just a few months earlier, the facility was empty, and in August the first locally assembled battery pack rolled off the production line. This means the car and its battery are manufactured in the same region, rather than arriving as a complete unit from China.

The brand's expansion plans are ambitious. In the first nine months of 2026, Leapmotor exported over 150,000 vehicles from China, meeting its annual target ahead of schedule. By the end of September, the company’s total deliveries had exceeded 1.8 million cars, with the B10 receiving more than 27,700 orders worldwide in the previous month, including over 8,000 in Europe.

The company’s founder, Zhu Jiangming, recalled that the idea for Leapmotor came to him in 2015 while in Spain, after seeing a small electric Renault. Upon returning to China, he gathered 41 engineers. Eleven years later, his company produces cars near Saragossa and aims to produce one million vehicles annually while securing a spot among the top ten largest manufacturers, regardless of powertrain type.

Zhu also compared the share of new electric vehicles: nearly 70% in China, over 40% in Europe, and more than 30% in Spain. These figures were presented by Leapmotor’s CEO, along with sales targets. What will be most important now is the actual production scale of the B10 and the number of European customers who will receive their cars at the turn of the year.
