GAC and Huawei have just launched in China the second vehicle from one of their most recent collaborations. It is called Aistaland GX7 and is a large five-seater SUV with an extended-range electric drive system. It enters the market equipped with up to three electric motors, four LiDAR sensors, and a combined range that can reach 1,580 kilometers.

Its promotional price starts at 229,900 yuan, approximately 30,000 euros at the current exchange rate, and goes up to 291,900 yuan, around 38,200 euros. The official prices, without the initial discounts, range from 239,900 to 301,900 yuan, roughly between 31,390 and 39,505 euros. Aistaland had already received over 20,000 reservations within just 18 hours when pre-orders opened in early September.

Over five meters long, up to 748 HP and 1,580 km of range

The GX7 is a considerably large SUV. It measures 5,099 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width, and 1,750 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,070 mm. Despite such large dimensions, Aistaland has opted for a five-seater interior to prioritize space for its passengers. Its main competitors in China include models such as the Aito M7, Li Auto L6, and Xiaomi YU7.

The entire range uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine as an endurance booster. The rear-wheel-drive version features an electric motor producing 272 HP and takes 7.6 seconds to reach 100 km/h. Above that is a two-motor variant with 462 HP, which reduces this time to 4.9 seconds. The most powerful model utilizes three electric motors and generates a staggering 748 HP, enough to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

CATL supplies the batteries, available with 52 kWh of LFP chemistry and 67 kWh of ternary type. Depending on the configuration, the GX7 can travel between 325 and 385 km using electricity alone according to the CLTC cycle, while the combined range ranges from 1,500 to 1,580 km. The three-motor version adds an 800-volt architecture and ultra-fast charging, capable of reaching 30% to 80% battery charge in about 10 minutes. The other two versions take approximately 15 minutes.

Four LiDARs and an interior dominated by Huawei

Huawei plays a significant role in the technological sector. The GX7 is one of the first cars to feature its Qiankun ADS 5 assistance system, utilizing as many as four LiDAR sensors within a total of 38 sensing elements. The primary sensor is a sophisticated LiDAR with dual optical paths and 896 channels.

Aistaland also claims it is the only vehicle in its class developed on an architecture designed for level 3 autonomous driving. To achieve this, it incorporates redundancy in eight different areas, including power supply, steering, braking, communications, positioning, processing, and sensing. This does not mean it offers level 3 autonomous driving from launch, but rather that its architecture is technically prepared for it.

interior

Huawei also designs much of the interior using HarmonySpace 6. It features two 15.6-inch screens, a massive 88-inch augmented reality head-up display, and a Huawei Sound system with 21 speakers. The second row can also be transformed into a completely flat surface in about 20 seconds, and the interior supports over a dozen different configurations.

The GX7 will also carry significant commercial responsibility. Aistaland launched its first car, the electric GT7, last June, but its start has been modest. It delivered 2,658 vehicles in July and only 1,100 in August, a monthly decline of 58.62%. The new SUV enters a much larger and more popular segment than the GT7, so GAC and Huawei hope that its 1,580 km range, advanced technology, and price below 35,000 euros will help give a strong boost to their new brand.
