Tesla’s autonomous driving? It can save your life…

Tesla's autonomous driving, the controversial FSD (Full Self Driving)? It can save your life, as this Dutch driver recounts.

Tesla's autonomous driving avoids a deer that suddenly appeared from the forest

Kees-CJ van der Graaf is a pharmacist who has been driving a Tesla for a long time and shared his (happy) experience on his LinkedIn profile: “I’ve been driving a Tesla since the beginning, when Elon Musk was still really cool. Thanks to the excellent driving quality and the car’s features, I’ll continue to do so. What am I talking about, for example? FSD, the ‘supervised’ autonomous driving. It’s super relaxed, and you feel very safe! How safe is it? Watch the video, made with our dashcam. On a country road, we’re traveling at 80 km/h. An oncoming car blinds us. Unexpectedly, the Tesla starts braking suddenly. Why, for what reason? Hey, keep going….Oh no, thankfully the car stops. Someone went completely off track with their ‘autonomous driving.’ Who should I thank?”

Salvini in contact with Musk to discuss FSD

The “self-driving guide” to which the pharmacist refers sarcastically is actually the quiet approach of a deer that suddenly emerged from the forest. It was impossible to see, in the darkness and at that hour, as it came out of the bushes. The video comes just a few hours after the phone call in which Transport Minister Matteo Salvini called Elon Musk to discuss self-driving technology. The Lega leader himself confirmed this: “A very positive and constructive conversation with Musk. Italy is very interested in the opportunities offered by assisted driving technologies, with a focus on innovation and road safety. We support rapid approval by the EU of Tesla’s assisted driving system. Thank you for the exchange, Elon!” Elon promptly returned the compliment. We will see if there are any developments.
