Volkswagen expands the ID. Buzz Cargo lineup with a new long-wheelbase (LWB) version designed to increase cargo capacity. This change adds 0.5 cubic meters of extra volume, bringing the total to 4.4 cubic meters, and expands the loading area to 2,458 millimeters in length—250 mm longer than the standard wheelbase model.

Beyond the increased length, Volkswagen introduces several practical changes, such as adding a second sliding door that is 19 centimeters wider than the previous one—a modification that allows a European pallet to be loaded directly from the side. The wheelbase width remains at 1,230 mm, while the maximum payload is 700 kilograms in the rear-wheel-drive version and 606 kilograms in the all-wheel-drive model. The body can be paired with a large rear gate or, optionally, with double-door rear doors. The interior configurations for two or three occupants are also retained.

Rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive

Its lineup will consist of two mechanical variants that have slight differences from the standard battle version. While the latter uses a 79 kWh battery, the LWB models use an 86 kWh battery. With rear-wheel drive, it delivers 210 kW (286 HP), while the version equipped with the 4MOTION system boosts power to 250 kW (340 HP). In both cases, the towing capacity with brakes is 1,800 kilograms, whether on an 8% or 12% slope.

Another innovation is the Vehicle-to-Load system, which allows the high-voltage battery to power tools and other electrical devices. Through the PowerSocket adapter connected to the charging port, the vehicle can supply up to 3.0 kW continuously, with peaks of 3.6 kW. Volkswagen states that it will offer the adapter either with a standard Schuko plug or with a 230-volt CEE connection, the latter being common in camping applications.

Additional Equipment

The ID. Buzz Cargo LWB features the latest generation of Volkswagen’s software, which adds assistance and energy management functions. Among these is an upgraded version of Travel Assist that can recognize traffic lights, and when it detects a red light, it can automatically brake the vehicle until it stops. It also includes a single-pedal driving function that allows reducing speed and regenerating energy using only the accelerator.

The technological equipment is completed by the Innovision infotainment system, which includes a new app store where services related to audio, video, parking, charging, or entertainment can be added. Additionally, the new multifunctional steering wheel features redesigned buttons.

The VW ID. Buzz Cargo LWB will initially be available with all-wheel drive and 250 kW (340 HP), priced at 50,630 euros net in Germany. Orders for this version have already opened, while the rear-wheel-drive configuration, starting at 48,490 euros net, will arrive next week. This means the extra cost for the longer body style is around 2,340 euros net compared to the standard Cargo. No dates or prices have been announced yet for the Spanish market.
