The electric bike that has been declared world champion in enduro racing does not have the most powerful engine nor is its frame made of carbon fiber.

With so many new developments in the electric enduro bike sector, featuring extremely powerful engines and stunning carbon fiber frames with long suspension travel, rider Adrien Dailly (Moustache SR Suntour team) steps in to give his rivals a serious challenge by riding an electric bike with an aluminum frame and a Bosch engine, aiming to stand out against all the high-powered bikes coming from China.

The bike in question is the also French-made Moustache GAME 160, which became world champion after recording impressive times—outperforming the runner-up by a full 35.92 seconds, a massive advantage in competition.

The world championship race was held in Italy, specifically in Finale Ligure, over a course featuring 6 timed specials on a 63.2-kilometer track (1,665 meters of uphill and 2,087 meters of downhill). Beyond racing fast, riders must also manage their battery capacity. Adrien completed these sections in 39 minutes and 7 seconds. Behind him was another French rider, Orbea’s Damien Oton.

Modern racing bikes differ little from their road versions, thanks to high-quality components that are suitable for both casual riding on trails and competitive racing. If there are any differences, they usually relate more to individual rider adjustments rather than anything else.

Well, sometimes they do exist and are the result of brand sponsorships. In the case of the GAME 160, the suspension systems that come standard are supplied by Fox (in various finishes). However, the Moustache team uses SR Suntour suspensions, and as expected, the suspensions on the racing bikes feature components from this American brand.

At the front, we have a SR-Suntour Durolux 38 EVO fork with 170 mm of travel. At the rear, it typically features a SR-Suntour RS24 Triair shock, which provides up to 160 mm of travel for the rear wheel—a model used in most of the season (as seen in some official team photos). However, at the World Championship, Adrien used a VORO Coil spring unit that the brand is currently refining: it once disappeared from the catalog, so we’ll see what Suntour does about it.

Other details: the transmission is an electronic-driven Shimano XTR Di2, a component not found in standard GAME 160 models, as are the brakes, which also come in Shimano’s XTR version.

Finally, special mention goes to the engine: while the GAME 160 models come standard with Bosch’s Performance Line CX, Adrien’s bike features the more competitive CX-R version. The battery is a 600 Wh PowerTube unit, which, although it doesn’t offer the same range as larger batteries, is lighter, which is advantageous in competition. In short, it’s a very well-balanced bike that, without any major highlights, became the champion of the 2026 E-EDR Series world championship.

Women’s category: German rider Weber on German bike Rotwild

Helen Weber was the champion in the women’s category, achieving an outstanding time that put her more than a minute ahead of the runner-up on the podium... fantastic!

Weber competes for the ROTWILD Schwalbe Gravity Team, and the bike used this time is a unique R.EXC 900, featuring a stunning carbon fiber frame equipped with a highly sophisticated suspension system and an elegant swingarm. This swingarm is designed to allow three different travel distances (145, 155, and 160 mm), enabling complete customization. The front wheel has a travel distance of 170 mm.

The engine is an Avinox M2S that is “tuned” for competition, offering only 750 W of maximum power (it can reach 1,300 W on the standard R.EXC model), while the torque remains at the standard maximum of 150 Nm. The battery is not from Avinox: Rotwild has chosen to use its own battery with a capacity of up to 864 Wh (IPU9), featuring a carbon fiber casing and weighing just 3.85 kg.

Helen’s bike’s suspensions are provided by Fox: at the front, a well-proven Fox 38 Factory suspension (the inverted Podium suspension seen on standard models is excluded), and at the rear, a Fox DHX Factory shock absorber without electronic activation (the top-tier R.EXC Ultra model comes equipped with a DHX NEO Live Valve).

The transmission, once again handled by Shimano, is the XTR Di2, paired with 4-piston brakes also from Shimano and XTR. In this case, it comes standard with the Ultra finish.

Truthfully, the models that have become champions of the 2026 UCI Mountain Bike E-EDR Series are quite special, with differences from standard models that make them even more exclusive. In reality, they don’t offer superior performance compared to the bikes we can buy; rather, they simply adapt their equipment to suit the sponsors/providers.
