The Madrid-Valencia motorway opens its largest ultra-fast charging station: 26 stations available 24 hours a day.

Electric vehicle drivers traveling on the A-3 highway between Madrid and Valencia now have a new option for charging their vehicles. It is the largest ultra-fast charging station along this route, according to its developers—a facility that has already begun operations and features 22 fast and ultra-fast charging spots, with capacities up to 400 kW and round-the-clock service throughout the year.
The station, named Moya Hub Honrubia, is located at kilometer 168 of the A-3, near Honrubia (Cuenca), within the premises of the well-known Moya Hotel Restaurante. Its location makes it suitable for serving trips between Madrid and destinations such as Valencia, Alicante, or Murcia, especially during peak travel periods.
The new infrastructure has a total installed capacity of 2,320 kW, with chargers offering powers ranging from 90 to 400 kW. It also includes two dedicated spaces for electric trucks, expanding charging options to commercial transportation as well.

A new charging station for traveling between Madrid and Valencia
The opening of this infrastructure strengthens the charging network along one of the country’s main road corridors.
According to data provided by its officials, the station doubles the number of charging spots available compared to other nearby facilities, a feature that is particularly important during summer trips, Holy Week, and other holiday periods.
The company has chosen a location that has been serving as a service area since 2001. Its position, roughly halfway between Madrid and Valencia, makes it convenient for drivers to include a charging stop in their long-distance journeys.
The importance of this location is reflected in traffic figures. According to 2025 data from the Ministry of Transport cited by the company, the A-3 highway recorded an average daily traffic volume of 28,488 vehicles near Honrubia, with figures approaching 45,000 vehicles per day during August.
Up to 400 kW of power and chargers for plug-in hybrids
The 22 DC charging stations use CCS2 connectors, the standard European format for fast charging electric vehicles.
The facility includes nine power modules from Spanish manufacturer Power Electronics, which manage energy distribution among the various charging stations.
Although the maximum advertised power is 400 kW, the actual charging speed depends on the vehicle’s capacity, battery condition, and available power at any given time.
In addition to these stations, there are four AC charging stations with 11 kW of power each, designed specifically for hotel guests and owners of plug-in hybrid vehicles.
In this way, the complex provides a total of 26 charging spots, 22 of which are for direct current and four for alternating current.
Open 24/7 with no need to register to pay
In addition, users can pay for charging directly using a contactless bank card without the need to register first.
The station also offers the option to log in via a QR code and the corresponding app, or by using Moya’s own RFID card.
José María Moya, CEO of Moya Estaciones Eléctricas, explains the purpose of the new infrastructure: "We want electric vehicles to stop being an option dependent on infrastructure and become the natural choice for any travel along this route."
The statement reflects the company’s intention to facilitate long-distance trips through facilities featuring numerous charging spots, high power capacity, and various payment options.
Cafeteria, restaurant, hotel, and services during charging
The station is part of a service area that offers a 24-hour cafeteria, restaurant, hotel, a store selling Manchega products, a gas station, and monitored parking for trucks.
These services allow drivers to use the stop time to rest, eat, or have a coffee while their vehicles recharge.
The facility also includes a 250 kW photovoltaic power generation system and energy storage batteries with a capacity of 2,350 kWh and an alternating current output of 1,180 kW.
This supplementary energy infrastructure enables the integration of solar power generation and storage with the operations of the chargers.
Where is the new A-3 charging station?
The Moya Hub Honrubia station is located on the A-3 highway, at kilometer 168, exit 168, in Honrubia (Cuenca).
It has 22 DC charging stations with capacities ranging from 90 to 400 kW, plus four AC stations at 11 kW. Two of the DC stations are designated specifically for electric trucks.
The facility is open 24/7 and accepts payments via contactless bank cards, mobile apps, or Moya RFID cards.
The opening of Moya Hub Honrubia expands charging options on the A-3, especially for drivers who travel long distances and need facilities with multiple available stations and high power outputs.
The new station also represents a step toward adapting traditional service areas to the needs of electric mobility, by including chargers for cars and trucks in a location that offers dining, lodging, and other services for travelers.
