Kia has launched sales of three new electric GT models in Europe: the EV3 GT, EV4 GT, and EV5 GT. Prices in Germany start at 53,990 euros, with all versions featuring AWD drive, two motors, and an 81.4 kWh battery.

This is an easy read. Kia is no longer treating the GT badge as a premium add-on for the EV6 and EV9, but rather extending it to more mainstream models.

Prices and positioning. The EV6 GT is no longer the entry point

In Germany, the Kia EV3 GT costs 53,990 euros, the EV4 GT 57,840 euros, and the EV5 GT 59,990 euros. For comparison, the larger and more powerful EV6 GT starts at 69,990 euros, while the EV9 GT begins at 90,490 euros.

This means the new GT lineup starts around 16,000 euros lower than the EV6 GT. And that’s probably the whole point of it. Kia wants to sell a “sports EV” to customers who won’t spend 70,000 euros on a D-segment crossover.

The roles in the lineup are clearly defined. The EV3 GT is meant to be an urban and compact entry into the GT world, the EV4 GT focuses on driving dynamics and styling, while the EV5 GT emphasizes practicality and family-oriented features.

The performance is decent, but nothing spectacular

The EV3 GT and EV4 GT share the same AWD system with 215 kW, or 292 horsepower, and 468 Nm of torque. The EV3 GT accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, while the EV4 GT hatchback does it in 5.6 seconds.

The EV5 GT is slightly more powerful, with 225 kW, or 306 horsepower, and 480 Nm of torque, but due to its larger size, it takes 6.2 seconds to reach 100 km/h.

These aren’t the numbers of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N or EV6 GT. And that’s good, because Kia isn’t even trying to pretend otherwise. The new GT models seem more like fast versions for daily driving rather than fully electric track variants.

Add to this the company’s features: Virtual Gear Shift, Active Sound Design, Launch Control, GT Mode, electronically controlled suspension, and torque vectoring. Some drivers will be impressed by these, while others will turn them off after a week. Artificial sound and simulated gear shifts still can’t replace a well-tuned chassis.

WLTP Range and Shared 81.4 kWh Battery

All three models come equipped with a larger 81.4 kWh battery. In terms of range, the EV4 GT Fastback performs best with a WLTP range of up to 537 km.

Following that is the EV4 GT Hatchback with a WLTP range of up to 505 km, the EV3 GT with a range of up to 501 km, and the EV5 GT with a WLTP range of up to 476 km.

On paper, this seems reasonable, especially in the EV4 GT. Just remember the old rule: WLTP is good for comparing models to each other, but not for guessing winter performance on the A2 highway.

Kia also adds visual and equipment elements: 20-inch wheels, neon-green brake calipers, bucket seats, a GT-style steering wheel, and a separate digital interface. It’s the classic “make it look faster” package. In this class, it works.

British prices haven’t been released yet, and the EV4 GT Fastback won’t be available in the UK. From a Polish perspective, something else is more interesting: if Kia maintains a similar positioning here as well, the EV3 GT could reach a level that starts to compete with better-equipped rear-wheel-drive or dual-motor versions from Chinese rivals. That’s when real comparisons will begin, not against the EV6 GT, but against cars that are “everyday yet sporty.”

Kia makes the GT a separate sub-family, but without overdoing performance. And perhaps that’s exactly what makes the most sense. Which of these three models do you think is the most sensible choice: EV3 GT, EV4 GT, or EV5 GT?
