The Kia PV5 has surpassed 10,000 orders in Germany. The first model under the South Korean manufacturer’s “Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV)” strategy was introduced in December as a five-seater minibus called the PV5 Passenger and as a van model named PV5 Cargo L2H1. Pre-orders for both versions were available starting in May 2025.
Throughout the year, Kia has significantly expanded its model lineup. For the PV5 Passenger, versions with six and seven seats were added, along with a wheelchair-accessible variant called the PV5 WAV. The van lineup was expanded with a shorter version called the PV5 Cargo L1H1 and the PV5 Chassis Cab featuring a driver’s cab.
Other models announced include the versatile freight and passenger transporter PV5 Crew, as well as the high-roof version PV5 Cargo L2H2, which provides an access passage from the driver’s area to the cargo space. For the Cargo variants, starting in June, in addition to batteries with capacities of 51.5 and 71.2 kWh, a starter battery pack of 43.3 kWh is available depending on the model.
Kia plans to expand its PBV model lineup to over 40 variants. The PV7, introduced in September, is set to hit the market in 2027, while the PV9 is scheduled for 2029. The technical foundation of this model family is the specially developed E-GMP.S platform, featuring a modular architecture, standardizable components, and a navigation and infotainment system based on Android Automotive OS that enables user-specific apps and integration into fleet solutions.
All PV5 variants and conversions are produced at the newly built Hwaseong Evo Plant in Korea as well as at the nearby PBV conversion center. In Germany, the passenger car versions are available at all Kia dealerships, while the cargo models are distributed through a specialized PBV dealer network. The entire PV5 lineup comes with a seven-year manufacturer’s warranty up to 150,000 kilometers and an eight-year battery warranty up to 160,000 kilometers.
