Kia is expanding the powertrain options for the all-electric PV5 Chassis Cab in the 2027 model year. In addition to the standard battery with 51.5 kWh, a 71.2-kWh battery pack will also be available going forward. The long-range version is aimed at businesses and fleet operators whose vehicles need to cover longer distances between charging stops.
With its 71.2-kWh battery, the PV5 Chassis Cab delivers up to 120 kW or 163 horsepower. At a sufficiently powerful DC charging station, the drive battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes, while using the 11-kW onboard charger with AC takes around six and a half hours to charge from 10% to 100%. The range, like the payload capacity, depends on the specific vehicle configuration.
Kia cites the PV5 Cargo in its long L2H1 version as a reference point: with a 51.5-kWh battery, it can travel up to 297 kilometers, while the version with a 71.2-kWh battery reaches up to 416 kilometers according to WLTP standards. The PV5 Chassis Cab is 4,610 millimeters long, 4,870 millimeters including the rear underbody protection, and has a turning radius of 11 meters. In Germany, the new model year, including the long-range version, is expected to be available for ordering in the fourth quarter of this year. Prices have not been announced yet, but with a 51.5-kWh battery and 89 kW (122 hp) power output, the starting price is currently 32,260.50 euros net.

The chassis is based on the E-GMP.S platform developed for Kia’s PBV models and can be combined with application-specific body styles. Options include dump trucks, tipper trucks, three types of vans, refrigerated vehicles, and specialized configurations for supply, maintenance, and customer service. High-body configurations can offer up to 8 m³ of cargo space. The PV5 Chassis Cab comes with a seven-year manufacturer’s warranty or 150,000 kilometers, as well as an eight-year battery warranty or 160,000 kilometers.
"Commercial vehicle customers need solutions that truly meet their operational needs," says Erhan Eren, Director of PBV at Kia Europe. "The 71.2-kWh long-range battery increases the flexibility of the PV5 Chassis Cab, giving businesses more room to balance distances, charging options, and customization requirements on a compact electric platform."
