Kia unveils three sports electric cars with up to 306 horsepower: EV3 GT, EV4 GT, and EV5 GT
Kia expands its lineup of electric vehicles with three new sporty models: the GT series brings the brand’s high-performance philosophy to entirely different segments through the new EV3 GT, EV4 GT, and EV5 GT.
All three vehicles share a technical foundation of two electric motors and all-wheel drive, along with specific chassis tuning that improves steering response, suspension, torque management, and even the sound profile.
All-wheel drive and improved handling
The smallest of the three is the EV3 GT, whose two motors together produce 215 kW (292 HP) and a maximum torque of 468 Nm. With these specifications, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. Beyond raw power, Kia has aimed for improved agility through a specialized suspension, revised steering, and electronic torque control between the wheels.
The EV4 GT boasts exactly the same power and torque, 215 kW and 468 Nm, but its lower body and hatchback or fastback proportions enable it to achieve better acceleration figures. It reaches 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and, of the three models, it offers the greatest range: up to 537 km according to the WLTP cycle in the fastback version and up to 505 km in the hatchback version.
The brand claims to have specifically tuned the EV4 GT’s accelerator to alter its response throughout the pedal travel. In the initial section, smooth control at low speeds is aimed for, it becomes more responsive in the middle section, and a stronger torque response appears in the final stage.
The third model in this series is the EV5 GT, which is also the most powerful of the three, with 225 kW (306 hp) and 480 Nm of torque. Its 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time is 6.2 seconds, and it uses an 81.4 kWh battery to power the engines, giving it a maximum certified range of 476 km.
A sporty tuning approach
In all three models, the electronic suspension features the Preview Electronic Controlled Suspension system, which uses a camera to analyze the road ahead and adjust damping within milliseconds. The spring rate is stiffer, the stabilizer bars reduce body roll, and the steering provides a more direct response. The brakes also receive specific calibration, with the regenerative braking system coordinated through the Integrated Electric Booster.
The driver can choose from three driving modes: Normal, Sport, and GT. The Normal mode prioritizes comfort, Sport increases stiffness and responsiveness, while GT takes suspension and response capabilities to their highest level. It is also possible to adjust the function of the electronic stability control, while the torque vectoring system can distribute force between the wheels to improve cornering stability.
But perhaps one of the most interesting features is the Virtual Gear Shift, which allows Kia to simulate gear shifts in order to provide a sense of progression that conventional electric vehicles do not offer. This is complemented by Active Sound Design, which uses the eight speakers in the audio system to create sounds associated with acceleration, speed, and torque.
In addition, the GT variants feature specific aesthetic and equipment elements, such as semi-bucket sport seats, a new steering wheel, 20-inch alloy wheels, neon green accents, and exclusive graphics for the dashboard.
