Kia unveils the PV7, a large 800 V electric SUV with a range of over 460 km
Following the PV5, Kia expands its lineup of electric vans with the PV7. This new model promises a range of over 460 km, fast charging thanks to its 800 V architecture, and up to 8 m³ of cargo space. Its launch in Europe is scheduled for 2027.
Kia continues its push into the electric van market. At the 2026 IAA Transportation exhibition in Hanover, the Korean manufacturer unveiled the PV7, the second member of its PBV („Platform Beyond Vehicle“) electric vehicle family, following the PV5.
Bigger than the latter, the PV7 is aimed at both delivery and logistics professionals as well as passenger transportation. Two main variants are introduced initially, Cargo and Passenger, but Kia plans to offer an especially extensive range in the future.
Two batteries and over 460 km of range
The Kia PV7 is built on the E-GMP.S electric platform, specifically developed for this family of SUVs. Two NMC batteries will be available, with capacities of 71.5 and 96.2 kWh respectively. Depending on the version and market, it can deliver up to 200 kW (272 hp) of power and 420 Nm of torque. The PV7 will initially be available as a front-wheel-drive model, but Kia also plans to release a four-wheel-drive version in the future. With the largest battery, the Cargo Long version is expected to achieve over 460 km of range according to the WLTP cycle. This is an impressive figure for an SUV of this size, although Kia has not yet disclosed the range figures for all configurations.

Another feature: unlike the PV5 and its 400 V architecture, the PV7 adopts an 800 V architecture. At a 350 kW fast charging station, Kia claims it can go from 10% to 80% charge in just over twenty minutes. The manufacturer also innovates with two charging ports. The main port, located at the front, accepts both alternating current and direct current. A second AC port can be installed optionally at the back to facilitate connection depending on the parking configuration. Additionally, a V2L function is available to power tools or electrical devices directly from the battery.
Up to 8 m³ for the Kia PV7 Cargo
The PV7 stands out from the PV5 primarily due to its superior capabilities. In its Cargo Long version, it offers up to 6.1 m³ of loading volume. The model with a raised roof even reaches 8 m³. The Cargo Long can accommodate up to three euro pallets and features a loading threshold just 550 mm above the ground. Its maximum payload is 1,165 kg, while the upcoming Compact version will be able to handle up to 1,200 kg.
Kia has also designed a specific driving mode for when the vehicle is carrying a heavy load. This mode adjusts the vehicle’s behavior based on the payload weight. In its Long version shown at Hannover, the PV7 measures 5.35 meters in length, 1.995 meters in width, and 1.99 meters in height, with a generous wheelbase of 3.50 meters.
Up to nine seats in Europe
The PV7 Passenger is aimed at passenger transport, with applications ranging from business shuttles to rental services, as well as for families. It can accommodate up to nine people in international markets, while an eleven-seater configuration will be offered in Korea. A seven-seater version will feature seats mounted on long rails that can be easily removed to adjust the interior layout.
Inside, Kia also focuses on connectivity through its new Pleos Connect system based on Android Automotive OS. This allows access to professional applications and remote updates. A voice assistant using artificial intelligence, named Gleo AI, is also included. Depending on the configuration, drivers will have 12.9 and 14.6 inch screens at their disposal. Kia still retains physical controls for the most frequently used functions.
A lineup that will include 23 versions
Kia does not plan to stop at the two models unveiled in Hanover. The manufacturer aims to develop 23 variants of the PV7 eventually. The lineup will specifically include Cargo Compact, Long, and High Roof versions, Passenger Compact and Long models, as well as a cab-over chassis version designed for commercial conversions. Numerous customized options will also be available through Kia’s PBV conversion center and external partners.

The manufacturer seeks to cover a wide range of uses, from delivery and passenger transport to specially adapted vehicles. A even larger PV9 is set to join the family in 2029.
The Kia PV7 will be launched in Europe and Korea in the second half of 2027. Its prices are not yet known.
