KBA: Number 1 for alternative drive types in July 2026

The German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) released a report in July 2026 on the number one model in each vehicle segment and among alternative drive types.

In the reporting month, there was only one change to the best-selling model from the previous month: In the mid-size segment, the Audi A5 was replaced by the Mercedes CLA class in this position.

Among the best-selling models with alternative drive types, there were two model changes compared to the previous month: In the electric/BEV category, the Skoda Elroq had the highest number of new registrations. In the fuel cell vehicle category, the Hyundai Nexo led with two units registered.

The other drive types featured the most registered models from the previous month. The hybrid category (excluding plug-in hybrids) was once again led by the VW T-Roc, while the plug-in hybrid category was topped by the BYD Seal U. The most registered model in the full hybrid category was once again the Toyota Yaris.

In terms of gasoline-powered vehicles overall, the Dacia Sandero continued to lead. No new registrations were recorded for hydrogen-powered vehicles in July 2026 either.
