Ionity opens its 200th fast charging station in Germany

Ionity has opened its 200th location in Germany with new charging stations in Karlsruhe. This brings the total number of high-power charging stations operated by the company across Germany to over 1,500. According to Ionity, since early 2023 it has opened an average of about two new locations per month in Germany.

The new location in Karlsruhe offers a total of twelve high-power charging stations: eight Alpitronic HYC1000 units with a charging capacity of up to 600 kW per electric vehicle, and four Alpitronic HYC400 units with a capacity of up to 400 kW.

The newest Germany location is situated in a strategically advantageous position near the A5 highway and close to the Karlsruhe interchange, with access to the A8 toward Stuttgart. The address is Zimmerstraße 24, 76137 Karlsruhe. Restaurants and other amenities are available in the immediate vicinity.

Ionity was established in 2017 by BMW, Daimler, Ford, and the Volkswagen Group. Since then, additional partners such as the Hyundai Motor Group and financial investor BlackRock have joined. The fast-charging network focuses on Europe. According to the company’s website, there are 892 locations with 6,475 charging points in 24 countries. Currently, 73 new locations are under construction.
