IONITY has added a Business account with invoicing via NIP. Migration requires a new account.
IONITY has made a Business profile available in Poland, which allows companies to enter their business details and tax ID number on charging invoices. Registration is done through the IONITY app, but the operator requires creating a new account and selecting one of the available plans.
For those charging a company electric vehicle, this means less manual work collecting payment confirmations. However, it poses a problem for customers who already have a personal account and an active subscription, especially an annual one.
Charging invoices are sent to the company’s details
During registration, the user chooses a Business account type and then enters the company name, address, and tax identification number. This allows charging session invoices and subscription fees to be issued directly to the company.
The feature is available to Polish customers and appears to be a solution designed mainly for sole proprietors and small businesses. IONITY does not present it as a full fleet system. There is no administrator panel, no ability to assign multiple drivers, no spending limits, and no centralized management of employee cards.
Larger fleets can still use roaming partner services and fleet card providers that support the IONITY network. The Business profile in the app is simpler: one account, one user, and a bill containing company details.
In Poland, the basic IONITY Go tariff requires no subscription and currently costs around 3.50 PLN/kWh. IONITY Motion reduces the price to about 2.50 PLN/kWh with a monthly fee of 25 PLN, while IONITY Power brings it down to around 2.00 PLN/kWh with a monthly subscription fee of 50 PLN. The final rate is displayed in the app before starting a session and may vary depending on the selected station and current pricing.
Prepaid options for longer periods are also available. Before purchasing, check the app to see if the Business plan price is shown as gross amount, as well as what duration and cancellation rules apply to that account.
A new account complicates things for existing subscribers
IONITY states that a corporate profile must be created as a new Business account. This is not simply adding a company ID to an existing personal profile.
It is still unknown whether an active monthly or annual subscription can be transferred, prorated, or canceled without additional costs. The situation is particularly inconvenient for drivers who paid for a one-year plan and now have to create a second profile just to receive proper invoices. We have sent questions regarding this matter to IONITY’s technical support and will update the text once we receive a response.
An invoice with the company name and VAT ID makes it easier to account for the energy used to charge a business vehicle. The extent of the deduction depends on how the car is used. For a passenger car used both for personal and business purposes, a 50% VAT deduction is usually applied, with tax costs limited to 75%. A vehicle used exclusively for business activities may allow for full deduction, provided the entrepreneur meets the registration and formal requirements.
Following the changes at IONITY, one of the major roaming options without an equally straightforward path to a Polish VAT invoice remains Electroverse. The Business profile alone doesn’t turn the app into a fleet management system, but for business owners charging just one vehicle, it eliminates an annoying accounting hurdle.
