The company has set up a greenfield EV manufacturing facility spanning 90 acres in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. It has installed an annual production capacity of 15,000 EVs, including 10,000 buses and 5,000 trucks, although it can flexibly allocate the volume between buses and trucks. The company will begin expanding once it has utilised 50 to 70 per cent of the capacity, and it could easily bring annual capacity to 25,000 vehicles within the existing plant.
JSW Greentech has invested 25 billion rupees (~€229 million euros) in its electric commercial vehicle business and allocated a significant share to in-house development. It says it has developed the vehicle platform; the vehicle control unit (VCU); a four-in-one unit integrating the power distribution unit, DC-DC converter, steering pump inverter drive and air compressor inverter drive; and the base logic, software and algorithms for the entire electric drivetrain.
CEO Sumit Mittal said at the brand launch on 22 September that JSW Greentech is targeting a localisation of 50 per cent for the electric trucks within six months and then around 75 per cent within nine to twelve months, similar to that of electric buses. Parth Jindal, the Managing Director of JSW Cement and JSW Paints, said at the event that the electric commercial vehicle subsidiary will participate in government tenders for the buses and initially focus on B2B contracts for trucks. The company will give multiple choices to customers, including outright purchase, leasing, Battery as a Service (BaaS), and usage-based models, charging per-tonne for trucks and per-kilometre for buses.
JSW Greentech plans to offer a wide range of electric bus models, with sizes ranging from seven to 18 metres, for staff, intercity, school, and urban transportation applications. Initially, it has introduced a nine-metre city bus, a twelve-metre staff bus, and a twelve-metre city bus.
The twelve-metre staff bus features a 302 kWh LFP battery pack that supports dual-gun CCS2 charging and delivers a range of 200 km. It can climb grades of up to 18 per cent and achieve a maximum speed of 80 km/h. The company offers it in two versions, one with 45 pushback seats and one with 52 high headrest seats. It equips this model with an air suspension at both ends, a 360° camera system, USB charging points, and advanced driver assistance systems.

In the truck category, JSW Greentech has introduced a 55-tonne model and offers it in 4×2 tractor-trailer, 6×4 tractor-trailer, 6×4 tipper, and 8×4 tipper versions. The company uses a 282 kWh LFP battery pack that supports dual-gun CCS2 charging as standard but does give a choice of two configurations: fixed and swappable. The swappable battery pack can be replaced in seven minutes under ideal conditions.
Speaking to _electrive_ at the brand launch, Mittal revealed that the company is working on a 400 kWh fixed battery pack and expects to introduce it in three to four years. The 282 kWh unit will deliver a range of 140 to 150 km, while the 400 kWh unit should allow driving around 200 km on a single charge, he added.
The 55-tonne truck has a 420 kW motor and a six- or four-speed automated manual transmission, and it can climb grades of up to 27 per cent. JSW Greentech equips it with a sleeper cabin to make it suitable for long-haul operations and an air-suspended driver’s seat for enhanced comfort.
Further into the conversation with _electrive_, Mittal said that JSW Greentech is awaiting final approvals and expects to start both bus and truck production within a month. The company estimates it will be able to deliver 500 to 2,000 EVs between October 2026 and March 2027, he added. Jindal indicated the new brand will have a healthy order bank right from the beginning, stating plans to sign multiple deals for about 3,000 trucks on the launch day itself.
