The cost of the review, yet another joke

The cost of a vehicle inspection? Yet another joke: it’s identical to that of gasoline cars, but there are far fewer inspections here. This is a comment from a reader, Enrico. Vaielettrico responds. To contact us: info@vaielettrico.it
The cost of a vehicle inspection? “They offer you gas vouchers…”

"Good morning to the entire editorial team. I’m writing to bring to your attention (and to vent my frustration!) what I personally consider yet another joke at the expense of Bev vehicles: the quadrennial/biennial inspection. I don’t dispute the concept of inspections itself. But I find it deeply unfair that a task requiring roughly half the time and without the need for specialized equipment (such as those used for emissions testing) costs the same as inspections for vehicles with any type of internal combustion engine. Checking lights and brakes is different from checking lights, brakes, and exhaust emissions, as well as timing and other aspects. Paradoxically, here in Rome, due to competition, there’s a second layer of unfairness. Almost all inspection centers, unable to charge the official rate, typically offer gas vouchers worth 10 or 20 euros… Two vehicles mean 40 euros worth of unusable gas vouchers, to be given away to relatives and friends! Best regards," Enrico Li Volsi
The inspection is faster, but the cost remains the same

Answer. This is an issue we have addressed multiple times. Those who conduct the inspections told us that “from time to time, someone comes who is convinced they don’t need to have their vehicle inspected. So we explain how it works, that they still must undergo the checks and pay regardless. They are a bit upset, but this is the law.” As for the type of checks, an owner of a repair shop explained that “in practice, among the sixty or so checks required for both instrumental and visual tests, one of the most important ones is missing. The inspection of exhaust gases and pollutants is obviously skipped. An electric motor produces no emissions. However, more attention must be paid to the electrical wiring. It needs to be in good condition, because with electric vehicles there is always the issue of high voltages: The cars must not be dangerous either for those who drive them or...”
“For those who carry out maintenance on it.” The final cost of the work remains significantly lower compared to thermal systems. But not the price, as Enrico rightly points out.Journey into Electric China: Article + SHORT-VIDEO
