The Hyundai Motor Group, which includes the automotive brands Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, is consolidating its existing “Vehicle-to-Everything” services under the new global brand name “AllDayEnergy.” This initiative aims to provide customers with a unified experience across different markets and service types. Initially, smart charging (V1G) will be available, with Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) following later.

The service will launch in the UK through the Kia app. It is planned to expand AllDayEnergy to additional markets in Europe, the US, and Korea. The services are also set to be integrated into the vehicle apps of Hyundai Motor and Kia.

AllDayEnergy connects electric vehicle batteries with households and power grids. The V2X technology enables two-way energy flow between an electric vehicle and the grid. This allows an electric vehicle to not only charge but also function as a mobile energy storage unit.

Customers can charge their vehicles when electricity costs are lower and use the stored energy later or supply it to an external system if needed. Depending on the market and specific service, this can help manage charging costs, power a household, and participate in energy programs offered by electricity providers. V1G adjusts charging times based on current electricity prices, grid conditions, and customer preferences, while V2G feeds energy back into the grid and V2H supports households, including providing emergency power.

In South Korea’s Jeju province, the Hyundai Motor Group is already testing V2G technology. In the U.S., V2H services have been used to provide backup power to homes during events such as major wildfires, while the Netherlands offers V2G and smart charging based on dynamic electricity prices.
