High demand for VW ID. Polo, Škoda Epiq, and Cupra Raval

Volkswagen has received more than 30,000 orders for the new ID. Polo in Europe, according to the company. A manager from a major VW dealer group cited by Automobilwoche said that for custom-configured vehicles, the waiting time is at least ten months. The company’s other new electric compact cars are also likely to be well-received.
VW confirmed to the industry magazine longer delivery times, attributing them to what it described as very strong demand and the long-term production capacity planned at its Seat/Cupra subsidiary in Martorell, Spain. Delivery dates may vary depending on the configuration, with pre-configured dealer vehicles potentially being available sooner.
The ID. Polo has been available for ordering since late April 2026, with mass production alongside the Cupra Raval starting in Martorell at the beginning of June. In Germany, the base version is now also available for 24,995 euros. Technically, this compact car is based on the upgraded MEB+ electric vehicle platform with front-wheel drive. VW offers the ID. Polo in versions with 85 kW (116 hp), 99 kW (135 hp), and 155 kW (211 hp) power outputs. The two lower-powered variants use a battery with a net energy capacity of 37 kWh, while the 155-kW version features a 52-kWh battery pack. According to the manufacturer, WLTP range varies by version, reaching up to 454 kilometers.
The Škoda Epiq is also affected by long delivery times. According to the Czech subsidiary of Volkswagen, there are over 35,000 orders pending. Another dealer representative cited by Automobilwoche stated that both the Epiq and Cupra Raval are sold out for months. For currently configured vehicles, delivery dates cited in the report range from May to June 2027. The specific delivery time depends here as well on the model version and equipment options.
The series production of the Epiq began on June 8 at Volkswagen’s plant in Navarra, Spain, near Pamplona. This electric urban SUV also uses the MEB+ platform and front-wheel drive. Škoda states that the currently available variants offer power outputs of up to 155 kW (211 hp) and a maximum range of around 440 kilometers. In Germany, the Epiq started at 32,100 euros. For the even more affordable Epiq 35 variant, Škoda lists a starting price of 25,900 euros.
The third model based on the MEB+ platform, the Cupra Raval, is manufactured in Martorell, just like the ID. Polo. Cupra will offer this approximately four-meter-long, sporty-oriented electric city car in Germany starting at 25,950 euros. For variants with a 52-kWh battery, the manufacturer claims a range of up to 445 kilometers and power outputs of up to 166 kW (226 hp). No independent, publicly confirmed order figures for the Raval are available yet.
The three models are part of Volkswagen Group’s jointly developed “Electric Urban Car Family” and are all manufactured in Spain. The supply shortages thus affect a vehicle class in which several group brands are offering battery-electric models for the first time at or below 30,000 euros simultaneously.
