Higer Bus is showcasing four products at FIAA 2026 in Madrid, including the 9-metre Azure battery-electric city bus and two products from its Fencer electric range.

The Chinese manufacturer is displaying the V13 coach, Azure 9 electric city bus, Fencer f6 Integral EV bus and Fencer f1 Integral EV chassis at the Spanish exhibition, which opened at IFEMA Madrid on 22 September.

The lineup covers coach, urban and intercity applications, as well as an electric chassis platform intended for different urban bus configurations, according to Higer Bus.

At the FIAA opening, Higer held a press conference featuring Jeff Lee, Chief Engineer of the V Series, and Wave Xiao, Chief Engineer of FENCER, who presented the respective product ranges. Bruno, Business Development Director at REMO, Higer’s electric mobility partner in Spain, also outlined cooperation covering operational analysis, customized vehicle development, charging infrastructure and after-sales services.

The event was attended by more than 100 European media representatives and industry customers. The manufacturer also states that the V13 uses a lightweight design intended to reduce fuel consumption, while the Azure 9 is already operating in Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium and Iceland. Higer says its buses have been sold in more than 30 European countries and regions, with new-energy models accounting for more than 80% of its European sales.

Higer V13 coach makes FIAA appearance

On the coach side, Higer is exhibiting the V13, a 13.15-metre vehicle with an overall height of 3.85 metres and more than 10 cubic metres of luggage capacity.

The driver’s area includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen, while voice control is available for the entertainment and air-conditioning systems. The vehicle also features full-LED lighting.

For passenger operations, the two rows of aisle-side seats can be moved laterally. Individual equipment includes headrests, footrests and entertainment touchscreens.

Higer states that the V13 can accommodate a wheelchair lift at the front-wheel area, while seats in the corresponding wheelchair space can be removed according to operational requirements. The manufacturer also says the model is available with different powertrain configurations for long-distance passenger and tourism operations.

The manufacturer points out that “The vehicle’s operating noise is 2 dB lower than the level specified in EU standards; premium carpets, amber ambient lights, high-speed rail-style pull-down curtains and ergonomic seats create a premium travel experience. Each seat is standard-equipped with a headrest, footrest and entertainment touchscreen, allowing passengers to enjoy audio and video entertainment throughout the journey”.

Higer Azure 9: 268 kWh battery for the European market

The Azure 9 is a 9-metre battery-electric low-floor city bus developed for European applications. Higer positions the model for feeder services, urban routes and point-to-point shuttle operations.

The bus features a fully flat low-floor layout and is equipped with a 268.7 kWh battery. Higer does not identify the battery supplier in its announcement, referring to it as a leading international manufacturer.

The vehicle features independent front suspension and an electronically controlled air suspension (ECAS) system with lifting and kneeling functions.

Higer specifies that the Azure 9 is equipped with a full-vehicle CAN bus and T-BOX, enabling customers to monitor real-time vehicle health status via the cloud platform”

Fencer f6 electric bus and f1 chassis on display in Madrid

If the V13 and Azure 9 represent Higer’s complete-vehicle offering, the FENCER series showcases what the manufacturer calls its “vehicle + chassis” system. Positioned by Higer as its high-end zero-emission sub-brand, FENCER is based on a self-developed, highly integrated chassis platform and is represented at FIAA 2026 by two products: the f6 Integral EV bus and the f1 Integral EV chassis.

Designed specifically for intercity passenger transport, the f6 features battery preheating and precooling during charging. According to Higer, its highly integrated high-voltage system is designed to reduce maintenance costs, while the vehicle architecture is intended to maximize space for the driver and passengers. The bus is also equipped with ADAS functions for driving safety.

The f1 Integral EV chassis integrates the chassis, powertrain and ADAS and supports high-power fast charging at up to 360 kW. It also features Higer’s self-developed 5/6-in-1 high-voltage components, which the manufacturer describes as combining low energy consumption with stable output. The platform is designed to accommodate different urban bus applications, providing what Higer calls a “foundation” for the electrification of European urban public transport.

At FIAA, Higer is also displaying the f1 chassis separately to make its integrated architecture visible to visitors. According to the manufacturer, visitors to the chassis exhibition area examined the integrated structure and discussed its potential applications with the company’s technical representatives.
