Geely Auto Group has introduced Geely Smart Charging: an AI-driven charging technology that enables faster charging, reduced heat generation, improved safety, and a longer battery life. At the core of the system is Xingrui PowerMind, an AI model for energy management jointly developed by Geely Auto Group and StepFun. It coordinates electric vehicles, batteries, charging stations, the cloud, power grids, and energy storage systems.

The technology predicts battery temperatures up to 30 seconds in advance and dynamically adjusts the charging power. The average battery temperature during charging is intended to remain below 55 °C, while peak values are kept under 65 °C. A five-point liquid cooling system removes heat throughout the entire charging chain, from the charger’s energy storage to the battery pack.

Xingrui PowerMind can create a customized charging strategy for each vehicle and battery, adjusting peak current, cooling intensity, and charging time in real time. Additionally, Geely developed a lithium-ion pulse regeneration technique that uses micro-pulse currents to reactivate lithium ions accumulated on the negative electrodes during repeated fast charging. According to the Chinese automaker, this combination of AI-driven charging management and battery regeneration extends battery lifespan in charge cycles by up to 20 percent.

The fifth generation of Geely Smart Charging Station achieves a peak charging power of up to 2250 kW. Its AI-powered fast charging function adjusts the charging rate based on the battery’s current condition. The Shendun Golden Battery, developed by the creators for ultra-fast charging and high performance, supports a peak charging rate of 12C.

In practical tests, the battery used in Geely’s Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 models reached 70 percent charge in 4 minutes and 30 seconds from 10 percent, and 97 percent charge in 8 minutes and 40 seconds from 10 percent. The company calls this its fastest charging performance to date among mass-produced vehicles. For home charging, the group has developed a strategy featuring lower charging speeds aimed at gradually reducing or even partially reversing degradation caused by repeated fast charging, thereby protecting battery cells throughout their lifespan.

With the Next-Gen Ultra Short Blade Battery, Geely also introduced an energy storage solution focused on longevity and safety, while aiming to improve charging speed. A laser welding technique developed by Geely for cell contacts and covers is designed to reduce heat generation during charging by 10 percent. The maximum charging rate increases to 6C.
