The Geely Galaxy TT starts at 129,900 yuan. It is cheaper than announced and offers a greater range.

Geely has launched the electric sedan Galaxy TT in five trims, with starting prices ranging from 129,900 to 185,900 yuan. The launch brought two changes at once: a lower price than during the pre-sale phase and an increased range for the base model, rising from 540 to 640 km according to CLTC standards. On paper, this appears to be a strong response to China’s price war.

The base Galaxy TT costs 16,000 yuan less than it did at the start of the pre-sale in August, meaning it is nearly 11% cheaper than the previously announced price of 145,900 yuan. Meanwhile, the top-tier Ultra variant dropped from 209,800 to 185,900 yuan. Such changes usually don’t happen without reason.

800 V, CATL, and 10-80% charging in about 12 minutes

All versions of the Galaxy TT come standard with an 800 V architecture and CATL’s LFP batteries, named Shenxing TT. The manufacturer claims support for 6C charging speeds.

The three variants with a CLTC range of 640 km use 63.8 kWh batteries and cost 129,900, 139,900, and 149,900 yuan respectively. The flagship rear-wheel-drive version with a CLTC range of 725 km features a 75.2 kWh battery pack and is priced at 159,900 yuan.

Geely states that charging from 10% to 80% takes 11.8 minutes for the 63.8 kWh battery and 11.6 minutes for the 75.2 kWh battery. That’s fast. But we’re still talking about the Chinese CLTC cycle under ideal conditions, so keep a cool head.

The four rear-wheel-drive versions share one engine with 245 kW of power and 320 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 6.5 seconds. The Ultra variant gets two engines, AWD drive, a total system power of 425 kW, a 75.2 kWh battery, and a CLTC range of 650 km. Its 0-100 km/h sprint time is claimed to be 3.8 seconds.

The car measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,919 mm in width, and 1,479 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. It features a fastback design and an active rear spoiler. Standard equipment includes an aluminum double wishbone suspension at the front and a five-link suspension at the rear. Selected versions also come with CCD suspensions that adjust damping force.

LiDAR Almost Everywhere and Weaker Sales in China

All Galaxy TT models except the base version come equipped with LiDAR. The car uses Geely Afari Smart Driving H5 or H7 assistance systems. H5 is powered by a Horizon Robotics J6M chip, while H7 uses an Nvidia Thor-U chip. Features include urban and highway NOA modes, park-to-park driving, and automatic parking.

The cabin features Flyme Auto 2 system, AI assistant Super Eva, a 10.2-inch dashboard display, a 15.4-inch central screen, and a 25.6-inch AR-HUD. It also includes audio with 23 speakers, as well as massage, ventilation, and seat heating functions. No expense was spared on the equipment.

The second aspect is business-related. Geely sold 270,194 vehicles in August, an 8.01% increase year-on-year and the highest figure for the year so far. However, exports surged by 205% to 110,094 units, accounting for about 41% of total sales. This means domestic sales were at 160,100 units, representing a roughly 25% decline year-on-year.

The Galaxy brand alone saw sales rise to 119,115 units in August, an 7.63% increase year-on-year and a 10.50% increase month-on-month. Therefore, the Galaxy TT is intended to help where Geely faces the biggest challenges currently, namely in the Chinese market rather than abroad.

In terms of cost, it’s around 73-105 thousand zł before taxes and homologation, so if it ever makes it to Europe, there won’t be any significant price advantages. What do you think? Would a sedan with 800 V and LiDAR even have a chance in Poland these days?
