As St. Luke wrote at the beginning of his Gospel, wait before deleting this message... We know the prices of Foxtron electric cars, which are set to supply technology for Poland’s electric vehicle “Izera 2.” In Taiwan, they cost approximately 83,600 złoty for the Foxtron Bria and 145,100 złoty for the Foxtron Cavira. This is good news, as labor costs in Taiwan are slightly lower than in Poland but still similar (source), while the costs of certain raw materials and components are higher. An optimistic conclusion: the prices of Izera 2 in Poland could be similar.

Foxtron Bria = Izera 2

Foxtron is a brand owned by the Taiwanese company Foxconn. Foxconn (Hon Hai Technology Group) is set to partner with Electromobility Poland on the Izer 2 project. The company has presented various concepts and prototypes over the years, but this time we are talking about actual market debuts—cars that are being sold and available for purchase. The Foxtron Cavira went on pre-sale in May, and 1,000 orders were placed by the second half of June.

Foxtron Cavira, specifications

The Foxtron Cavira is a direct competitor to the Skoda Enyaq and Xpeng L03 (both using 400 V architecture), but with a larger trunk. It measures 4,695 meters in length (D-SUV segment), 2,92 meters in wheelbase, 1,905 meters in width, and 1,625 meters in height. The trunk has a capacity of 625 liters, with the front compartment holding up to 67 liters. The vehicle is equipped with a battery of 82.7 kWh, which provides a range of 578 WLTP units (source). This translates to approximately 494 kilometers in urban or city-suburban driving conditions, 347 kilometers at 120 km/h, and 266 kilometers at 140 km/h [preliminary calculations by Elektrowozu editorial team].

Equipment

Depending on the variant, we get rear-wheel drive with 186 kW/253 hp (0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds) or all-wheel drive, with slightly shorter range of 538 WLTP units, but 349 kW/475 hp and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4 seconds. Standard features include a 15.6-inch central display, online software updates, regenerative braking, electrically controlled vents, electrically adjustable front seats, a 12-speaker audio system, laminated glass at the front and rear, as well as a “charging port cover along with other luxury elements” [via Google Translate ;)].

For those who don’t want to spend hundreds of thousands of zlotys on a new car, the Foxtron Bria is an ideal base for our IZERA 2, a C-segment hatchback. The car costs less than 84,000 zlotys, making it cheaper than the vast majority of its gasoline-powered counterparts in the Taiwanese market. It’s a compact model (4.315 m long, 1.885 m wide, 1.535 m high) with a battery capacity of 57.7 kWh and a range of just over 400 WLTP units [calculations by Elektrowozu based on NEDC values].

Contrary to many claims, the Bria has only just begun reaching dealerships. The manufacturer is currently collecting orders for the larger and more expensive model but has not yet started deliveries. We write about both vehicles in a mildly enthusiastic tone because the Taiwanese prices of these two models suggest that the manufacturer has focused on cost optimization. In Poland, additional costs would include manufacturing fees, licensing, batteries, though some raw materials might be cheaper. Thus, the Izera 2 has a chance to compete with its combustion engine counterparts or German companies’ electric vehicles during sales promotions.

The final decisions regarding the production of Izera 2 using Foxconna/Foxtronna technology are expected by the end of the year.
