For 63 years, European automotive journalists have gathered to test, discuss, and vote on which car model deserves Europe’s “Car of the Year” title.
The seven finalists have now been announced, and upon examining the vehicles in this lineup, it’s already clear that this final round is historic:
For the first time, all seven finalists are electric vehicles.
Here are the finalists
At the end of November, the 64 jury members will gather and test the cars at the Balocco circuit in Italy before casting their votes.
The finalists in contention are these seven:
BMW iX3
Cupra Raval
Hyundai Ioniq 3
Kia EV2
Renault Twingo
Volkswagen ID. Polo
Volvo EX60
The winner will be announced at the auto show opening in Brussels on January 8 of next year – it is, after all, the Car of the Year 2027 being chosen.
As you can see from the list, there is quite a range of vehicles competing, from the compact city car Renault Twingo and the much-talked-about ID. Polo to the robust BMW iX3 and Volvo EX60, which we recently tested:
Renault is also in the final round for the sixth consecutive year, as is Kia.
The finalist model, EV2, was designed, developed, and produced in Europe, though this is the first time an Asian automaker reaches the finals for six years in a row.
