The Fang Cheng Bao Ti 9 will be available in China after November 15. The Shark pickup will come out around the turn of November and December.

Fang Cheng Bao, under the BYD brand, will introduce its six-seater plug-in SUV Ti 9 to the Chinese market after November 15, 2026. The Shark PHEV pickup will go on sale there at the end of November or beginning of December. General Manager Xiong Tianbo announced the schedule, with Ti 9 concept vehicles and test drives set to arrive at dealerships by the end of October.

No prices or trim levels for either model have been disclosed.

Ti 9: The flagship family SUV with 2+2+2 seating layout

The Ti 9 will serve as the flagship of the Ti series, which are self-supporting SUVs designed for urban families. It measures 5270 mm in length, 1999 mm in width, 1880 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3130 mm. Unlike the Bao 5 and Bao 8, it does not use a frame structure. It is based on a self-supporting body and BYD’s DMS hybrid platform.

The powertrain consists of a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 115 kW (154 HP) and two electric motors, each with a maximum output of 200 kW. Together they deliver 400 kW (536 HP) to both axles. The LFP battery with a capacity of 66.48 kWh is supplied by FinDreams Battery. According to BYD, it allows the vehicle to travel 310 km on electric power in WLTC testing, while with a full tank and fully charged battery, the car is said to achieve over 1600 km. These are the manufacturer’s claims, and the 310 km electric range in WLTC testing for such a large vehicle should be viewed with caution.

The cabin features six seats arranged in a 2+2+2 layout, with separate seats in the second row. All three rows come equipped with heating, ventilation, and massage functions. In front of the driver is a 30-inch panoramic screen, while the rear passengers have a 21.4-inch entertainment screen that folds down from the ceiling.

Standardly, every version of the vehicle comes equipped with DiSus-A pneumatic suspension with road view functionality and the iATS off-road driving system. It also features fast flash charging and second-generation Blade batteries. There are six body colors available: Flowing Light Gold, Universal Silver, Starburst Gold, Crimson Cloud Red, Deep Space Blue, and Meteorite Black, in both single-color and two-color versions.

Shark in China: MIIT certification details

The Shark made its debut in Mexico in May 2024 and has since entered other markets. China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) classifies the domestic version as a multi-purpose light truck.

The pickup has a length of 5457 mm, width of 1971 mm, height of 1925 mm, and a wheelbase of 3260 mm. The cargo box measures 1520 × 1530 × 515 mm. Its curb weight is 2710 kg, with a maximum allowed weight of 3495 kg, and the rated payload is only 460 kg. Thus, the foreign version does not serve as a model for the Chinese one.

Under the hood is a 1.5-liter turbocharged BYD476ZQF engine with a net power of 135 kW (181 HP). All-wheel drive is provided by an electric motor of 170 kW at the front and 150 kW at the rear. The total power of the electric motors is 320 kW (429 HP), and the top speed is 180 km/h. The LFP battery is supplied by Xi’an FinDreams Battery.

The regulatory documents do not specify the battery capacity or electric range. Therefore, figures from foreign Shark versions should not be applied to the Chinese model.

Ti 9 is aimed at families that need six seats. Shark aims to give the brand its first pickup in China. However, with a payload of 460 kg, it’s hard to consider it a workhorse.
