Recently, Renault has updated its two all-electric models, the Mégane E-Tech Electric and Scenic E-Tech Electric. Both facelifts feature a larger battery, higher charging capacity, and improved range: both electric vehicles are now equipped with a 67-kWh LFP battery installed using the cell-to-pack method. They also offer 165 kW DC fast charging, which reduces the time to charge from 15% to 80% to just 24 minutes. The range increases to 494 kilometers on the WLTP cycle for the Mégane, while the Scenic achieves 467 kilometers. For the Scenic, an optional new larger NMC battery with 89 kWh capacity is also available, boosting the range to 632 kilometers.
Starting now, both electric vehicles are available for configuration and ordering in Germany. Let’s first take a look at the smaller model, the Mégane E-Tech Electric, which has also undergone significant visual changes. For example, the lighting signature has been redesigned to make the all-electric Mégane instantly recognizable at a glance. At the front, new daytime running lights “with a distinctive graphic design and rhombus pattern offer a more modern look,” according to the French manufacturer. The tail lights retain their prominent layout across the entire width but are now designed as 3D components without a cover glass.
Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric starts at 34,990 euros
Initially, the Mégane E-Tech Electric is available in two trim levels: Techno starting at 34,990 euros and Esprit Alpine starting at 37,990 euros. For both trims, only the 220 Comfort Range version is currently offered as the sole powertrain option. It features a system output of 160 kW, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds, and has a top speed of 160 km/h.
The base Techno version of the new Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive full-LED headlights, a rear camera, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and emergency braking assist, traffic sign recognition, a 2-zone automatic climate control system, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry, Multi-Sense technology, a 12-inch digital cockpit, and a 12-inch OpenR-link infotainment system with Google Navigation and Arkamys sound system. It also includes wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, inductive smartphone charging, a heat pump, as well as 11-kW AC and 165-kW DC charging; however, a 22-kW charger is available at an additional cost.
The top-tier Esprit Alpine model adds to the tech features 20-inch wheels, electrically adjustable driver seats with massage function, a Harman-Kardon premium audio system, a 360-degree camera, Easy-Park Assistant, cross-traffic and exit warning assistants, as well as an enhanced Active Driver Assist system with emergency stop functionality.
Scenic available initially only with large battery
Now let’s turn to the Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric. It will be available at launch in just one configuration, featuring the same 160 kW electric drive system used in the Mégane along with a large 89-kWh NMC battery. A smaller 67-kWh LFP battery is set to follow.
The price list starts at 42,590 euros for the base Techno version. Alternatives include the Esprit Alpine at 44,790 euros and the Iconic at 45,990 euros.
The Techno trim level of the Scenic E-Tech Electric comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, full LED headlights with adaptive front lighting system, a rear camera, and an adaptive cruise control. The exterior mirrors feature memory functions and logo projection.
