EVgo adds first Tesla Superchargers to its network

EVgo has opened its first location equipped with Tesla Superchargers near Chicago’s downtown area. These twelve charging stations mark the beginning of several hundred more Superchargers that the U.S.-based charging network operator plans to integrate into its own network.

As early as August, EVgo announced its entry into Tesla’s Supercharger for Business program. Now, the first location from this expansion plan has gone operational. It is located in Illinois on property owned by the real estate company Regency Centers, with which EVgo has long been collaborating on the development of charging infrastructure.
Tesla’s V4 Superchargers will be used, integrated into EVgo’s network under the name “EVgo Superchargers.” EVgo remains the owner and operator of these stations and also sets the prices.
The hardware supports charging speeds of up to 500 kW and voltages of up to 1,000 volts. Through Tesla’s Magic Dock, vehicles with either NACS or CCS connectors can be charged without needing their own adapters. The longer cables of the V4 generation are also designed to better accommodate different positions of the charging connectors on vehicles.
EVgo expands its NACS offerings simultaneously
The Chicago location is part of a broader strategy aimed at attracting more drivers of NACS vehicles to EVgo’s network. The operator began installing NACS connectors at its own fast charging stations as early as 2025.
By the end of 2026, EVgo aims to have 500 NACS charging stations nationwide. The newly added Tesla Superchargers will complement this expansion. Over the next two years, at least one NACS port is expected to be available at all EVgo locations built in 2023 or later.
For Tesla drivers, the new EVgo Superchargers will be integrated directly into the Tesla Trip Planner and vehicle navigation. Regular EVgo locations with NACS ports have already appeared there since early September, provided third-party charging stations are enabled. The first Supercharger locations will be set up on properties owned by Regency Centers, primarily at shopping centers with supermarkets, retail stores, and restaurants. In August, EVgo announced plans to establish locations with up to 20 charging points as part of this program.
The opened location with twelve charging points marks the practical start of the project. EVgo plans to integrate several hundred Tesla Superchargers into its own network. The company has not yet provided specific numbers or a complete timeline for future locations.
