Avinox is going all out. Additionally, it aims to gradually introduce its engines into other price ranges or usage scenarios. That’s why it has launched a new display, in this case for the handlebar, called the DP200 Control Display.

This unit eliminates the need for a bicycle frame with an upper bar designed to accommodate a screen. It also allows bike manufacturers to install an Avinox engine in a trekking or urban-style bike that doesn’t have an upper bar. This is where we believe Avinox is aiming to expand its reach.

This DP200 display features a 1.4-inch LCD screen with high resolution (242 ppi), along with two button panels and a third button integrated into it. One of the button panels controls the usual motor drive modes, while the third button is used to turn the motor on and off. The other button panel is one of the new features—it allows us to shift gears.

Controlling Gear Shifts Too

These buttons are used to manage gear shifts and have various functions: when the bike stops, we can downshift (even when stationary, the system moves the cog). Additionally, the system prepares the gears to make pedaling easier with launch assistance when moving again. It is compatible with the automatic downshifting function on descents (the one that increases gears as speed increases).

Obviously, it would be necessary to see (Avinox doesn’t specify further) what type of gearboxes it is compatible with, but let’s recall that the Amflow TL Carbon bike (the SUV model) was equipped with a TRP E.A.S.I electronically actuated gearbox designed for Amflow, and we already know that Avinox owns the bicycle brand....

This display complements an increasingly extensive catalog, and although it appears to be designed for use at the bottom, the integrated technology also makes it suitable for use on high-end bicycles. Yes, it lacks a USB-C port like the other displays (DP100 and DPC100), but its ease of use—the manufacturer claims it can be operated without the need to fumble around as with displays mounted on the frame—is a advantage for this type of information display.

The resolution is very high, and in addition to the usual information about the motor’s status, it is compatible with Apple devices, allowing the DP200 screen to function as a second display for something like an Apple Watch. We can also use it to unlock the bicycle...

The DP200 provides a high level of brightness, ensuring optimal visibility under direct sunlight. It also features an anti-reflective surface treatment that is resistant to scratches. Additionally, it comes with IP56 water resistance certification... More information at: Avinox DP200
