Excluded from the charging station bonus: voices of protest

Excluded from the charging station bonus and furious over how it was designed. Readers write to us to share their disappointment. Some lost their subsidy for just one day, like Elena, due to confusing information. Marco had a similar experience—he spent 3,000 euros, paid 10 days before the decree was issued, and installed his charging station in September, only to still be excluded. Finally, there’s Francesco, who met the deadlines but bought a model not listed by GSE. Vaielettrico responds. And how did it go for you? You can send us an audio message, a video, or even a photo of your charging station at info@vaielettrico.it.
Excluded from the bonus: “You can’t have both children and stepchildren”

"My story is similar to many others. Trusting that our government would adopt a similar solution to past measures, I purchased the wallbox on June 15, 2026, after signing a contract for a Tesla Model 3. Installation took place on August 31 of last year, completing the process for the SCIA exemption from increased fire risk requirements stipulated by law. It also involved updating the fire prevention certificate (CPI) for the apartment complex’s garage. This resolution reassured the hesitant residents and the manager, who had initially been a bit resistant. At the apartment complex meeting on September 6 of last year, I already had all the compliance declarations, the project details, and the amendment to the CPI. Now, after spending a hefty 3,000 euros, I find myself among those who cannot benefit from the incentive. The purchase invoice is dated June 15.
Oh, prior to the decree taking effect. It seems surreal, but if transition is the ultimate goal, one cannot have children or stepchildren. Also because the funds have already been allocated and can be distributed. I hope for an unexpected correction of the rules.” Marco MordecchiThe Ministry replied that bonus credits for charging stations are excluded
Elena was denied due to only 24 hours, Francesco because of an unsuitable wallbox
“I also report that I paid on June 25; if I had known about the non-retroactive nature, I would have waited until the work was completed. The energy transition should be more strongly incentivized.” Elena Tommasi.
Then there’s the case of someone like Francesco Surdo from Putignano in Puglia, who meets the requirements but, also out of ignorance, purchased a wallbox that isn’t on the list of those approved by GSE. Here is his message: “I too have been excluded from the charging station bonus because I installed a Solplanet unit with an integrated inverter and photovoltaic system. Isn’t it unfair to be forced to choose an integrated system rather than other brands on a list that is never updated?”
Charging Station Bonus: Excluded Individuals Write to the Ministry
Gian Basilio Nieddu responds. The cases of Elena and Marco fall within the broader group of those who made their investment before June 26, when the decree was approved. Deceived by the announcement of the measure on January 30, 2026 — here is the link to the ministry’s press release — even though the law does not excuse ignorance. Clearly, there was a lack of timely public communication regarding the terms and procedures. This is the case with Francesco, who was within the deadline but made the wrong purchase. This is an interesting point for those planning to make a purchase in the future (there will be an annual call for bids from 2027 to 2030, so mistakes cannot be made). To receive the bonus, one must purchase only a charging column approved by GSE (see that list). But be careful: you also need to download from Invitalia’s website this file: certification of charging infrastructure requirements. You must fill it out and have it stamped by the authority.
