Excluding station bonuses, that’s what the Ministry replied.

Excluding station bonuses, that’s what the Ministry replied.

Many readers of Vaielettrico wrote to us, and some reported their situation directly to the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy: they had purchased and installed a home charging station before June 26, 2026, the date when the new incentive program started, and thus found themselves excluded from the subsidy despite having made the purchase just a few days before the platform opened. We asked the Ministry for clarification, and they responded. But there are no good news.

The Ministry’s version: retroactivity is not automatic and always required

The Ministry responded by clarifying that regulations do not allow inclusion of installations carried out before the start date of the procedure, as the implementing decree explicitly states that subsidies can only be granted for expenses incurred and reported after the official launch of the measure.

This is the answer to our question: “Regarding the readers’ concerns, it should be noted that current regulations explicitly define the period during which expenses are eligible for reimbursement, stipulating that costs incurred for purchasing and installing charging infrastructure starting from June 26, 2026—the date the decree issued by the President of the Council of Ministers on June 10, 2026, came into effect—are eligible.” And this is something we already knew.

But for those who believed, following the announcements related to the automotive decree, that the funds were also allocated for 2025 and the first six months of 2026? “Regarding the period prior to June 26, 2026, it should be noted that the rules established for previous editions of this measure do not automatically extend those same eligibility criteria to subsequent years, as each edition must be implemented based on the specific regulatory framework in force for that period.” Unfortunately, there is little hope, as clearly stated in the ministry’s declaration.

Some are promoting a petition: “Let’s make our voices heard”

The rule is clear, but e-drivers are disappointed and feel betrayed. Many have written to us; we will soon give everyone a voice, and they say they intend to mobilize. Some propose a petition while others sent a formal letter to the ministry. There are those excluded in 2025, as well as those in 2026 whose citizens missed the incentive by just a few days.

Many people are calling for a reversal, especially since some spent up to 4,000 euros connecting their apartment’s electrical panel to the main circuit. It’s a heavy economic blow.
