First Mer-Charging Park Gets BK Lounge in Konstanz

Charging station operator Mer is now also partnering with BK World, so that Mer’s first charging locations will be equipped with lounges from the German lounge provider. The launch takes place in Konstanz: there, a BK Lounge was inaugurated at the Mer charging hub on Carl-Benz-Straße 8.

BK World states that it has installed one of its lounges at a Mer charging station for the first time. Charging is available in Konstanz at six stations, totaling twelve CCS ports with a capacity of up to 600 kW. Guests can now wait during charging in a climate-controlled lounge, where they can enjoy coffee and snacks from 24/7 vending machines. This location is set to be the first of several where Mer and BK World will collaborate. There is ample potential: Mer operates around 36,200 of its own charging stations and provides its customers access to over 780,000 charging stations across Europe, including 180,000 in Germany.

The Konstanz Lounge is now the first to feature Mer’s design — offering seating, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a wheelchair-accessible restroom. Users can also find two refrigerators with snacks and drinks, a freezer with ice, and a coffee machine. Next to the lounge, there is also a pizza vending machine available.

BK World is located in the town of Steinsfeld in Middle Franconia and currently has its charging lounges in Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, and Portugal. It already has partnerships with EnBW, Tesla, and Fastned, and is also working with other fast-charging providers such as Ionity and Electra. With Mer, its network of partners expands further.

"This creates a dense network of BK World Lounges around the Bodensee," the officials emphasize, referring to the new opening in Konstanz. At the eastern end of the lake, the company already operates a lounge with Tesla in Lindau, and on the Swiss side, a lounge with Fastned in St. Margrethen. With Konstanz, a location right on the German-Swiss border is now added, complemented by the lounge in Schaffhausen on the Hochrhein River.
