Those who want to pull a camper van, horse trailer, or loaded car transporter need a towing vehicle with sufficient trailer capacity. For electric cars, this range goes from no trailer capability at all to over two tons. The key factor is the braked trailer capacity, which manufacturers typically specify for a 12 percent slope, and sometimes additionally for an 8 percent slope.
For this comparison, we searched the GoingElectric electric vehicle database for all currently orderable models with a braked towing capacity of at least 2,000 kilograms, and selected the cheapest version of each model that met this requirement. The eight cheapest models among them are presented here.
