Elephants quickly deal with charging posts

It’s not uncommon for charging stations to suffer from vandalism. However, the operator of a charging station in China likely never expected this particular culprit: an elephant simply knocked over their charging pole.

The scene was filmed at a parking lot in China: as a herd passed by the installed charging stations, a calf got caught on one of the cables. An adult elephant helped free it and then apparently turned directly to address the cause of the problem, knocking over one of the charging poles. It’s unknown whether that pole survived the encounter. The video of this nighttime incident has since gone viral online.

One certainly can’t complain about a lack of consistency: the young were saved, the source of danger was identified, and the charging station was removed. While other places are still debating cable management, trip hazards, and proper driving protection, the herd found its own unique solution. It may not have been very delicate, but it was surprisingly effective—see the video above.
