The Tesla Roadster is now available for reservation in Spain: up to 250,000 euros upfront

The new Tesla Roadster now has a reservation page available in Spain. After a launch event where the stunts and propulsion systems took center stage, it’s time to put money down. Tesla’s pricing makes it clear that securing a spot on the waiting list requires a significant commitment, even before all the details of the car are known.

The Spanish website allows customers to choose between the Performance and Thrust versions, while the top-tier Rocket version is reserved only for invite-only customers. There’s a crucial difference in how these figures are interpreted in some reports: the amounts shown by Tesla correspond to the reservation process. They should not be confused with the final purchase price, which is not specified on that screen.

The design also represents a break from the prototype presented in 2017. The angular shapes bring this new Roadster closer to the style of the Cybertruck, with a body design that bears little resemblance to the rounded lines of that initial concept. After years of delays, Tesla is once again introducing its sports car as a technological showcase, though its full specifications and final pricing details remain unknown.

Three versions, from active aerodynamics to flight

The Roadster Performance is the entry-level variant shown on the Spanish page. Tesla describes it as a two-seater model built for road use, equipped with active aerodynamics and a multi-mode all-wheel drive system. The latter aims to improve traction through suction effects against the ground, though the form does not detail its workings or the differences between its modes.

Above that is the Roadster Thrust, which also has space for two occupants. It adds thrust motors to the Performance model’s features and is listed as a limited-edition variant. Tesla claims this version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than a second, a claim that will need to be verified along with the conditions required to achieve it.

The most extreme proposal is the Roadster Rocket, which the Spanish website itself describes as a single-seater with a full flight system. Its reservation is only available by invitation and it cannot be selected like the other two variants. This version is not approved for use on public roads, so its capabilities do not mean it can be used to fly over traffic jams.

The new Tesla Roadster is even more extreme than it seemed: everything we know

In any case, essential data is still missing to assess the overall package. The reservation page does not specify the battery capacity, range, power output, or charging times for each variant. It also does not provide a delivery date that would indicate when those who pay upfront can expect to receive it.

To reserve the Performance model in Spain, Tesla requires an initial payment of 5,000 euros along with another 45,000 euros within ten days. In total, 50,000 euros are needed to finalize the reservation. The page states that the reservation is not final until the payment is received and can be canceled if it is not completed by the specified deadline.

In Thrust, the cost increases significantly: 5,000 euros at the start of the process and another 245,000 euros within ten days, bringing the total to 250,000 euros. Tesla limits this option to one order per customer and warns that it may cancel duplicate requests or purchases with identical account, payment, or address details. It also states that availability depends on the legal requirements of each region.
