The Renault Scénic has improved range, charges faster, and will cost 1,000 euros less.

The electric Renault Scénic receives an update that brings significant changes to its lineup, especially in the versions equipped with the new batteries. Renault has used this update to increase range, improve charging times, and also reduce the price of the entry-level version by 1,000 euros.

The main novelty is found in the Renault Scénic Long Range, which features a new 89 kWh battery. Thanks to this battery and various optimizations, the maximum certified range increases from 625 to 642 kilometers, a figure that allows the Renault model to compete more closely with some of its main rivals in this category, including the Tesla Model Y.

The maximum charging power remains at 150 kW, although Renault claims to have improved performance during the process. As a result, the Renault Scénic Long Range now takes 28 minutes to go from 15% to 80% charge, representing a 25% improvement over the previous model.

But perhaps the most interesting change is found in the entry-level version. The electric Renault Scénic replaces its previous 60 kWh battery with a new 67 kWh LFP battery, allowing the range to increase to 467 kilometers. This is an additional 37 kilometers compared to the model it replaces, while the maximum fast charging power rises from 130 to 165 kW. Adding the greater durability of LFP cells, this means the car will have an even longer service life.

It also reduces the charging time required. According to Renault, this version can go from 15% to 80% charge in 24 minutes, a figure that is particularly significant given that it is the most affordable version in the range and enables more comfortable and faster trips.

And here comes one of the main surprises of this update. Renault not only includes a larger battery and higher charging power but, according to French media, has reduced the price of the Scénic Techno to 41,900 euros. This means paying 1,000 euros less than the version it replaces, despite the improvements made.

More technology and new features for the Renault Scénic

The updates to the Renault Scénic aren’t limited to the battery and charging system. The OpenR Link multimedia system also sees improvements, including the addition of Gemini as a replacement for Google Assistant. Additionally, Google Maps enhances route planning with stops for charging, allowing users to select the charging station’s power level.

The driver assistance features are also evolving. Renault has introduced a new function called Multi Target, which can analyze multiple vehicles and their trajectories simultaneously. For example, the system can take into account a car joining traffic while another changes lanes or slows down in front of the Renault Scénic.

Finally, this update adds new customization options for the model and expands its connected services. Renault will provide 2 GB of mobile data per month for three years, and orders for the new versions are now available.
