The Renault 4 improves its range and features with a new update

Renault has updated the R4 with changes similar to those recently applied to the R5. The electric SUV now boasts slightly improved range thanks to enhanced aerodynamics (new lower bumpers and redesigned mirrors), allowing the 120 HP, 40 kWh version to achieve a maximum WLTP range of 310 km (up from 308 km WLTP previously).

The 150 HP, 52 kWh version now reaches 415 km WLTP range (up from 410 km WLTP). If the Plein Sud convertible variant is chosen, the maximum range is 400 km WLTP. An entry-level Jogging version equivalent to the R5 Five will be added later, featuring an 110 HP engine and a 36.5 kWh LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) battery. The other two battery packs available remain NCM (nickel, cobalt, manganese).

Renault has also opened orders for the special Roland Garros edition, available in four colors (Glacial White, Urban Gray, Glossy Black, and Terracotta Brown), all with a black roof. This finish is only available with the 150 CV engine; however, customers can choose between a metal or canvas roof.

Among other features, this model comes equipped with 18-inch black diamond-cut alloy wheels featuring a central accent in Terracotta Brown, matching the color used in the decorative details of the bumpers. The Roland Garros emblem is located on the front fender, while inside the cabin it appears on the seat backs, which have exclusive light gray upholstery.

The dashboard trim features an anodized metal finish and includes a backlit inscription reading Roland Garros Paris. The floor mats come in an earthy color designed to evoke the tennis court of the tournament that names this edition, a shade also seen on the wireless charging pad in the center console. The gear selector, meanwhile, is inspired by a tennis racket.

The Renault 4 team has taken the opportunity to introduce some equipment upgrades. The high-definition rear view camera is now standard across the entire range, as is the manual battery preconditioning function, which can be activated via the central screen. The Techno and Iconic trims can optionally be equipped with a 360º view camera.

The new predictive eco-driving assistant analyzes the road and, after identifying elements such as curves or roundabouts, advises the driver when to stop accelerating to achieve more efficient driving. The emergency stop assistant, on the other hand, can bring the vehicle to a complete stop if sensors on the steering wheel or an interior camera detect prolonged inactivity from the driver. Another novelty is the wireless smartphone charger with ventilation compatible with the Qi2 standard.
