The electric Porsche Cayenne can now be charged wirelessly: home wireless charging is here
A few months after its launch, Porsche has updated the Cayenne Electric. One of the most notable updates is the new Porsche Wireless Charging system, a home wireless charging solution that allows drivers to charge the vehicle without cables in everyday use. This optional system consists of three components: the necessary hardware in the vehicle, the car charger base, and the floor platform installed in the parking space.
The platform is designed to be used outdoors due to its weather resistance. This charger can deliver up to 11 kW of power with an efficiency of up to 90%. To ensure safe operation, the system includes motion sensors and foreign object detection. If a living being approaches the vehicle or if there is a metal object on the platform that heats up, the charging process stops.
Another first is the optional electric operation doors, which open and close automatically using servomotors. The doors can be controlled via the car’s physical levers, the interior buttons, or the infotainment system screen. They can also be activated with a digital key; additionally, the driver can close their door by pressing the brake or fastening their seat belt. If the system detects an obstacle, the opening or closing process stops.
The Porsche Cayenne Electric also features a massage function for the front seats, with each seat equipped with sixteen air cushions and six sound actuators, as the audio system complements this new feature. The massage program and its intensity can be adjusted through the touch screen.
Porsche’s largest electric SUV is now part of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’s Paint to Sample program, allowing customers to choose from a total of 105 colors for the body. Additionally, new interior details have been added with the expansion of the Style package, which was created by the Style Porsche design studio in collaboration with Exclusive Manufaktur.
Compared to the previous Interior Style Package, the new one adds additional leather upholstery and decorative green stitching. There are also extra options such as leather/Race-Tex consoles in the front and rear, or door sill panels covered in Race-Tex.
The Porsche Cayenne Electric range still consists of three versions: the standard model with 442 hp (325 kW), the S version with 666 hp, and the Turbo version with 1,156 hp (850 kW). Its 113 kWh battery provides a range of up to 661 km according to WLTP standards; in terms of charging, it can deliver a peak current of 390 kW, allowing it to go from 10% to 80% charge in approximately 16 minutes.
