The Omoda 5 EV has been completely overhauled: larger size, 442 liters of trunk space, and a new 15.6-inch display

Omoda continues to expand its lineup, but it is also beginning to reorganize it. The arrival of the Omoda 4 necessitates clearer differentiation between its models, especially since the new model threatens to get too close to the one that previously occupied the entry-level position. The Omoda 5 EV will be responsible for making that leap forward, with updates that go far beyond just changing the bumpers.
The Omoda 4 will reach the first European markets in 2027 and, in terms of size, will be similar to the Omoda 5. With two models that are so close in size, the brand needs to provide reasons for customers to pay more for the higher-end model. This is achieved through a revised body design, an updated interior, and increased cargo capacity, though there are no major changes to its electric powertrain.
A new front end, more trunk space, and a completely redesigned interior

The transformation starts with the front end. The Omoda 5 EV features new headlights, bumpers, front fenders, and a hood, so it’s not the typical minor facelift that requires a second look to spot the differences. The new front design increases the front overhang, and according to leaked information, it extends the vehicle’s length to 4.55 meters, about 13 centimeters longer than before.
The rear end also undergoes significant changes. The license plate moves away from the door and takes up a lower position, integrated into the bumper. The headlights retain their recognizable shape, but their internal layout changes. The result is a fairly noticeable refresh on both ends of the car, precisely where the transition from one version to another is most evident.

The layout that combined the instrumentation and multimedia screen under a single black surface is gone. Now these two elements are separate: the digital display is 8.9 inches, while the central screen has grown to 15.6 inches. The dashboard and steering wheel also change, so those familiar with the previous model will find a significantly different driving position.
The trunk is another practical improvement. According to the published figures, its capacity increases from 360 to 442 liters, a gain of 82 liters that may be more useful in everyday use than many of the additional features. Spanish documentation is more cautious for now, stating a capacity of over 400 liters, with the exact figure to be confirmed in the final specifications.

Regarding the mechanical specifications, it’s important to distinguish between different markets and sources. Dutch reports indicate an increase in power from 204 to 218 horsepower, putting the Omoda 5 EV on par with its new smaller sibling. However, Omoda announces for Spain a 155 kW (211 horsepower) engine with front-wheel drive and 288 Nm of torque. Its claimed performance includes 7.2 seconds to reach 100 km/h and a top speed of 171 km/h.
The LFP battery retains its 61 kWh capacity, with an announced range of 430 kilometers under WLTP standards. Fast charging reaches 130 kW, allowing the vehicle to go from 30% to 80% charge in 28 minutes, in addition to 11 kW AC charging.
The arrival in Spain is scheduled for the first half of 2027. It remains to be seen how much will have to be paid here for this renewal, a crucial factor in assessing its competitiveness against other electric cars of similar size. For now, the reference price comes from the Netherlands: around 35,000 euros, about 3,000 euros more than before.
