The new Smart #2 is already a success: the public is responding enthusiastically to the return of the legendary two-seater.

When the Smart Fortwo was discontinued a few years ago, the European market lost a model for which there simply was no alternative. This tiny two-seater city car, which was so popular in the major cities of the old continent, was unique in its class, as the other urban vehicles in the A segment are much larger and have four- or five-seater interiors.
Although electric quadricycles (L6e and L7e) have begun to gain prominence in recent years thanks to the success of models like the Citroën Ami, they are still light-years behind a city car (M1) like the Smart Fortwo in terms of performance, dynamic handling, equipment, or safety, as the Smart Fortwo combined all the comforts of a “real” car with a very compact exterior size.
This explains the enthusiasm generated by the new Smart #2, the latest addition to the series. The German brand returns to the category that established its reputation with a model just 2.75 meters long and significantly improved technical specifications compared to the previous EQ Fortwo. Although the first deliveries won’t take place until summer 2027, order books have already been opened.
The launch edition, Couture Edition, limited to 999 units, has sold out in all countries where it was available. It is the most expensive version in the entire range (starting at 25,690 euros). Built on the Premium finish level, this model features a unique grille with straps that evoke the world of leather goods. Its body features an exclusive color combination (White Matte with a Platinum Gold roof); it also comes equipped with 16-inch tires.
Smart #2 offers up to 290 km of range
"Since we announced the Smart #2, we’ve seen extraordinary enthusiasm from our community," says Remo Guthauser, Smart’s European Sales Director. "Even before we had an official pre-order date, Smart enthusiasts were already contacting our distributors to ask when they could reserve the new two-seater Smart. Now we can serve the many two-seater car enthusiasts in Europe who have been waiting so long to reserve one of the first Smart #2s."
The Smart #2 features an 82 HP (60 kW) engine located at the rear axle. Its 35.8 kWh battery provides a WLTP range of 290 km, which is quite good by standards for this category. Additionally, it can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes, an impressive figure. The range consists of four trims (Pure, Pure+, Premium, and Couture Edition), with a sporty Brabus variant set to join them later.

The Pure starts at 19,990 euros and includes keyless entry and start, Smart Pilot Assist, and V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) reverse charging. The Pure+ costs 20,990 euros and adds 11 kW three-phase charging and a heated driver’s seat. The Premium version is priced at 24,490 euros and includes a panoramic roof, heated seats with leather-like upholstery, and a Sennheiser sound system with seven speakers.
