The new Omoda 4 electric model arrives with a range of 465 km and the ambition to win over the Spanish market.

The Chinese brand Omoda will soon expand its electric lineup with the arrival of the Omoda 4 EV, a compact SUV designed to fill the gap left by the previous Omoda 5 EV, whose successor has grown in size. Our subject measures 4,424 mm in length, 1,863 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
Its angular design is characterized by numerous folds. The front features dual headlights along with a shark nose that gives it a distinctly aggressive appearance. The floating roof and pronounced rear shoulders aim to add a modern and somewhat youthful touch, moving away from the simplicity typical of many Chinese-made models. The rear end includes light bars in a lightning bolt shape.
Inside, we find an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Beneath the central console is a raised tray with a wireless charger for smartphones. Depending on the trim level, it may include features such as electrically adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, a power-operated rear door, or a panoramic roof.
Although the Omoda 4 will have a hybrid version, the one we’re interested in is the electric model, which will feature a 218 HP (160 kW) engine and a LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) battery with a gross capacity of 67 kWh (65 kWh usable). Its range is estimated at around 465 km according to WLTP standards.

Omoda continues to expand its lineup
At one point, the Chery group announced that both the Omoda 5 EV and the Jaecoo 5 EV would be manufactured at the EBRO Factory in Barcelona. We shouldn’t rule out the possibility that the Omoda 4 EV will also be produced at this Spanish plant, as it is technically very similar to its older models.
Last October, Omoda & Jaecoo registered a total of 3,355 vehicles in Spain, accounting for 3.4% of the overall 98,320 registrations. Their sales were distributed as follows: 1,938 hybrids, 1,195 plug-in hybrids, and 148 electric vehicles. It is expected that the introduction of the Omoda 4 EV will help the company increase its sales of BEV (Battery Electric Vehicles).

Meanwhile, the Asian brand is working on other new models such as the Omoda X, an SUV with some off-road capabilities aimed at diversifying its lineup. Although its release date is unknown, it has been confirmed that it will come in hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric versions; additionally, it will also have all-wheel-drive variants.
