The new Lexus TZ already has a price in Spain: here’s the brand’s largest and most luxurious electric SUV

The Lexus TZ now has a price in Spain. The Japanese brand’s largest electric SUV, closely related to the Toyota Highlander, is aimed at becoming a serious alternative to models like the Volvo EX90. What does this new zero-emission flagship offer? We explain in detail.

We’re looking at an SUV that is 5,100 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,705 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,050 mm. This allows it to provide a six-seater interior arranged in a 2+2+2 layout. The vehicle’s drag coefficient is just 0.27, which is quite good for a car of its class. With three rows of seats, its trunk has a capacity of 257 liters.

The paint options consist of six shades (Aegean Blue, Copper Petra, Berlin Gray, Graphite Black, Nova White, and Gaia Green). There are two mechanical variants (450e and 550e), each associated with two finish levels: Executive for the former and Luxury for the latter. This results in a very simple range, as there are only two versions.

The TZ 450e Executive delivers 313 HP (230 kW), while the TZ 550e Luxury outputs 408 HP (300 kW). In both cases, the propulsion system consists of two electric motors (one per axle), a configuration that provides all-wheel drive. Lexus calls its intelligent all-wheel drive system DIRECT4.

The Lexus TZ offers up to 530 km WLTP range

Its battery has a capacity of 95.8 kWh. The range of the less powerful version is 530 km WLTP, while the more powerful one has a range of 450 km WLTP. In terms of charging, the vehicle can go from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes, with a peak power of 150 kW in DC. Its towing capacity is 1,500 kg.

Although a version with a smaller 77 kWh battery will also be available in the United States, it is not planned to come to Europe. The TZ 450e Executive starts at 88,000 euros in the Spanish market, while the TZ 550e Luxury costs 103,000 euros. These are high prices but consistent with the vehicle’s category.

The Lexus TZ features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch central touchscreen. It uses the new Arene software platform, which enables a wider range of multimedia functions. Notable features include a smart digital key, a 21-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, a DRS rear-wheel steering system (which reduces the turning radius from 5.8 to 5.4 meters), as well as safety assistants such as the Pre-Collision Safety System and Facial Recognition System.
