The Mercedes-AMG GT SUV arrives in Spain, matching the Porsche Cayenne S in price and range.

A few days ago, Mercedes-AMG unveiled its second electric model, the GT SUV. Built on the AMG.EA platform (the same one used in the existing GT 4-door Coupé), it is designed to compete with the Porsche Cayenne Electric. It measures 5084 mm in length, 2001 mm in width, and 1656 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3040 mm.
The range consists of three versions. The entry-level model is called the GT 53 and features a propulsion system made up of two permanent magnet synchronous motors (one per axle), providing all-wheel drive. This setup delivers 544 horsepower (400 kW) and enables it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 53’s battery has a net capacity of 106 kWh. With this, this high-end electric SUV achieves an WLTP range of 663 km. It also features an 800-volt architecture, allowing it to be charged at up to 600 kW in direct current, taking approximately 11 minutes to go from 10% to 80% charge. For comparison, a Cayenne Electric can be charged at 390 kW and takes 16 minutes to reach the same charge level.
For now, this is the only version available in the Spanish market. It has a starting price of 128,000 euros, making it slightly cheaper than the luxurious Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, which costs 139,937 euros.

Future versions will further expand the range
The AMG GT 53 SUV competes with the Porsche Cayenne S Electric, which costs 130,154 euros. It also has two engines that deliver 666 horsepower (490 kW). Its 113 kWh battery provides a WLTP range of 653 km; thus, we’re dealing with two models that are extremely similar in terms of range and price. That said, the Porsche is slightly faster (0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds).
In the future, the GT SUV lineup will be expanded with two additional variants named 55 and 63. The GT 55 is equipped with three axial-flow engines (one on the front axle and two on the rear), the same configuration found in the CLA 45 4MATIC+ and GT 4-door Coupé. It delivers 816 HP (600 kW), accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, and has a top speed of 270 km/h. There are two battery options: the existing 106 kWh pack (585 km WLTP range, 600 kW charging speed, 10-80% charge in 11 minutes), and another 128 kWh pack (700 km WLTP range, 710 kW charging speed, 10-80% charge in 12 minutes).

The GT 63 retains the same triple-motor setup, but delivers 1,169 horsepower (860 kW), with a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 270 km/h. It is also available with batteries of 106 kWh (585 km WLTP range, 600 kW charging speed, 10-80% charge in 11 minutes) and 128 kWh (700 km WLTP range, 710 kW charging speed, 10-80% charge in 12 minutes).
