The cheapest Audi A2 e-tron costs 37,760 euros in Spain: here’s what it offers
The new Audi A2 e-tron is now available for ordering and is set to become one of the most interesting options among entry-level electric compact cars. Audi revives a historic name for a model that clearly focuses on efficiency, but the big question lies with the base version: what does the A2 e-tron offer that can be purchased in Spain for 37,760 euros?
The answer is much more interesting than it might seem based solely on the starting price. The entry-level A2 e-tron skips the most powerful engines and larger batteries, but it still comes with a fairly comprehensive standard equipment package and a range that should suffice for most drivers.
Over 400 kilometers of range and reasonable fast charging
As is common in this class of vehicles, Audi focused heavily during the launch on the higher-end versions. These models achieve a range of 646 kilometers and deliver up to 326 horsepower. However, the base Audi A2 e-tron has 170 horsepower—a figure that may seem modest for a German brand’s model, but it fits well with the approach of this compact car.
The electric motor delivers 350 Nm of torque and is paired with rear-wheel drive. With this configuration, the A2 e-tron can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 km/h. It isn’t intended to be a sports car, nor does it need to be: its main advantage lies in offering comfortable and efficient driving in a relatively compact package.
The base version uses a battery with a gross capacity of 52 kWh, about 50 kWh usable, featuring LFP chemistry. With this battery, it achieves a range of up to 423 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle and a combined fuel consumption of 13.7 kWh/100 km. These figures are impressive for a compact car with a length of 4.32 meters, allowing it to travel outside the city without being limited to urban use only.
Audi has also paid attention to charging speed. The base A2 e-tron supports up to 100 kW of DC power, enough to go from 10% to 80% charge in 24 minutes. It can charge at 11 kW on AC power. While these figures aren’t as high as those of the most advanced models on the market, for a battery of this size, the fast charging time is reasonable and allows for a significant amount of range recovery during a relatively short break.
The range also allows climbing several gradients. The 190 HP A2 e-tron uses a 61 kWh battery and achieves up to 515 kilometers of range, while the 231 HP and 326 HP versions rely on an 84 kWh battery, offering 646 and 630 kilometers of range respectively. In other words, the base version has a shorter range compared to its more powerful counterparts, but it still maintains a range over 400 kilometers without increasing the price.
Externally, the A2 e-tron measures 4,324 meters in length, 1,789 meters in width, and 1,548 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2,768 meters. Audi has focused particularly on aerodynamics, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.24. The result is a compact body with short fenders and a rather unique silhouette that retains some visual features of the original A2.
Here we see one of the main differences compared to the units shown during the launch. The basic A2 e-tron is much more subdued than the versions with higher trim levels and sports packages. It comes standard with 18-inch wheels, and its appearance may seem too plain for those expecting a more eye-catching Audi compact. It’s always possible to add different options to give it more personality, though that will increase the price.
Inside, however, Audi has tried to prevent the entry-level version from giving off a basic car vibe. The standard equipment includes a panoramic MMI screen with an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch central touchscreen, along with Audi’s assistant and various digital services.
Other standard features include LED headlights, a two-zone automatic climate control, electric mirrors, wireless phone connectivity, a wireless charger, and a rear-view camera. Additionally, it comes equipped with various driving assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, emergency braking, and evasion maneuver assistance.
Therefore, the base version does not require you to accept a particularly bare car in order to get the lowest price. In fact, the standard equipment is one of the strengths of the entry-level A2 e-tron, although some elements that significantly enhance the exterior appearance are reserved for higher trims or options.
The trunk provides 396 liters, a fairly reasonable figure for a compact car of this size, and can reach 1,336 liters with the rear seats folded down. Audi has also focused on optimizing interior space to deliver a considerable amount of room given its exterior dimensions.
The price is precisely one of the aspects that changes the most compared to the figures initially announced in other markets. In Spain, the Audi A2 e-tron starts at 37,760 euros for the 170 HP version with a 52 kWh battery. The 190 HP model with a 61 kWh battery costs more, starting at 41,460 euros, while the 231 HP version with an 84 kWh battery begins at 47,360 euros. The range is topped by the A2 e-tron with 326 HP and also 84 kWh of battery capacity, priced at 56,640 euros.
The first units will arrive at dealerships in December 2026. Although the base A2 e-tron doesn’t offer the impressive range of the more expensive versions—423 kilometers WLTP, 10% to 80% charging in 24 minutes, and a fairly comprehensive standard equipment list—it makes the 37,760 euro price much more reasonable than it might seem at first glance.
