Efacec presents a charging park solution with up to 1.6 MW capacity

The Portuguese charger manufacturer Efacec introduces a charging park platform featuring up to 16 DC satellite chargers. The so-called “Charging Hub” integrates all components of a charging park, from charging technology and software to medium-voltage equipment.

Efacec introduces its new charging park solution as a platform featuring up to 16 DC charging points with a combined capacity of 1.6 MW. It is designed to meet the growing demands of vehicle fleets and is suitable for both passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The “Charging Hub” package was developed entirely in-house — “and combines our expertise in charging technology, medium-voltage equipment, automation, grid integration, and software into a single integrated solution,” according to Efacec.

The platform is based on modular power units of 800 kW and is designed to enable operators to configure or adjust the charging capacity according to their needs. The power modularity is achieved in 40-kW increments. The satellite charging stations themselves can have one or two charging points and offer various continuous current levels (2x 250 A, 2x 375 A, 2x 500 A, or 1x 700 A). According to Efacec, a so-called “Active Boost Mode” is available to temporarily increase the currents. The platform is currently focused on CCS connectors but is designed, per the manufacturer, “to support future use of MCS at 1000 volts.”

Efacec’s new product can be supplied either as a standalone HPC charging unit or as a complete MV-to-DC solution, that is, including the medium-voltage infrastructure, charging units, automation, and grid integration mentioned earlier. “This allows customers to have a single technology provider for the electrical infrastructure required to connect the charging system to the power grid. It reduces the number of interfaces between different suppliers and simplifies project planning and implementation,” says Efacec.
