TII Kamag is supplying a total of 25 electric transfer bridge converters of the Kamag ePrecisionMover (ePM) type to the Deutsche Post DHL Group. These electric vehicles will be gradually integrated into German packaging centers, where high throughput rates, short turnaround times, and high equipment availability are crucial according to the manufacturer of specialized and heavy-duty vehicles.

The delivery continues a long-standing partnership; as early as 1995, DHL was the first customer to receive a bridge transfer vehicle from TII Kamag. Since then, the Deutsche Post DHL Group has continuously expanded its fleet with vehicles from this manufacturer. The Kamag ePM was developed specifically for the highly time-sensitive processes in sorting centers, aiming to enable fast and precise movement of bridge transfer vehicles between gates, ramps, and loading areas.

Short lifting and lowering times along with agile maneuvering are designed to significantly reduce downtime and waiting periods in the yard, enabling compliance with tight scheduling requirements. According to TII Kamag, this electric vehicle combines high handling capacity with optimized energy costs, allowing for reduced operational expenses throughout its entire lifecycle. Godehard Eidenhammer, head of yard logistics at TII Kamag, emphasizes that the ePM meets both increasing demands for handling efficiency and sustainability, while also fitting seamlessly into existing and scalable logistics processes.

Compared to diesel-based solutions, the locally emission-free Kamag ePM offers significantly higher energy efficiency and lower maintenance requirements according to the manufacturer. Its use is also said to substantially reduce CO₂ emissions. According to TII Kamag, the vehicle is suitable for sensitive or urban logistics locations as well. “Electrifying our in-house logistics is a key component of our sustainability strategy,” explains Dane Becker from Vehicle Operations System Management at Deutsche Post DHL Group.

The Kamag ePM is equipped with robust components and a system design tailored for 24/7 multi-shift operation to support continuous use. Its battery technology ensures reliable performance throughout typical shift cycles. With appropriate charging infrastructure, the vehicle can be integrated into existing operations and recharged as needed.

According to the manufacturer, the electric vehicle also features an ergonomically designed driver environment with improved visibility, intuitive controls, and reduced noise levels. These features are intended to increase productivity per shift while enhancing workplace safety and conditions, especially during time-sensitive handling processes.
