The Denza Bao 5 is available in Polish pre-sale for 359,040 PLN. It is a chassis-based PHEV with 544 horsepower.
Denza has launched pre-sales in Poland for the Bao 5, a large plug-in SUV from the premium brand owned by BYD. Prices start at 359,040 PLN, with the top version costing 402,160 PLN, and demo vehicles are set to arrive at dealerships by the end of September 2026. This is an interesting debut, as it’s not just another soft SUV but a plug-in hybrid with a solid frame and axle locks.
The Bao 5 joins two models that Denza introduced in Poland in April 2026, namely the Z9 GT and the van D9. Now the brand is adding a more off-road-oriented vehicle, at least on paper.
What kind of car is it and what’s under the hood?
The Denza Bao 5 is a five-seater luxury SUV with a wheelbase of 280 cm. Its trunk capacity ranges from 475 to 1069 liters, and the cabin features a strong “Chinese-premium” style, complete with numerous screens and extensive equipment. The manufacturer has installed four screens here: a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central screen, a passenger screen, and an HUD display.
The powertrain is also impressive. The Bao 5 is equipped with a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine and two electric motors, one at each axle. The total power output of the system is 544 horsepower, with a torque of 760 Nm.
The traction battery has a capacity of 31.8 kWh, which is already quite large for a PHEV. The electric range according to WLTP is up to 90 km, while the manufacturer claims a total range of 835 km. WLTP figures for plug-in vehicles can be quite optimistic, but the battery capacity alone suggests that it’s possible to drive a significant distance in urban areas without using the gasoline engine.
The 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 4.8 seconds in the Elegance version and 5.0 seconds in the Ultimate variant. Yes, the base model is slightly faster here.
However, the most interesting aspect lies elsewhere. The Bao 5 is built on a monocoque chassis, which is rare in this class these days. It also features electronic differential locks on both the front and rear axles, along with a central drive-splitting lock. In short, it leans more toward a Chinese interpretation of Jeep or Land Rover rather than just another urban SUV.
Equipment, Versions, and Prices in Poland
In Poland, the Denza Bao 5 will be available in two versions: Elegance and Ultimate. Even the base model comes standard with 18-inch wheels, a panoramic roof, integrated side steps, roof rails, massage functions in the front seats, heating and ventilation for the front seats, as well as heated steering wheel.
The Ultimate version comes with 20-inch wheels, leather upholstery, electrically adjustable steps, a Devialet audio system with 18 speakers, seat ventilation in the second row, and a digital rearview mirror.
The top-tier model also features the DiSus-P body control system. This system uses data from over 20 sensors to continuously adjust the suspension settings. It can also raise the ground clearance to 31 cm. This sounds quite impressive, though there is still a significant difference between the advertised off-road capabilities and actually pushing the car through mud.

The first demonstration vehicles are expected to arrive at Polish dealerships by the end of September 2026.
For Polish customers, this is not really a competitor to the Tesla Model Y or Skoda Enyaq. It’s more of a niche option for those who want a large, powerful, and impressive PHEV with an off-road vibe, rather than yet another “premium” SUV with plastic underbody components and a phone app. The question is, how many buyers will be interested at a price of over 359 thousand złoty?
