Fiat’s counterpart to the 2CV is said to be named Koala.

We had actually expected Fiat’s electric microcars to be among the new models at the 2026 Paris Auto Show. Yet they were not on display there. Instead, the Multiplay concept car, the four-door Topolino version called Multiplina, along with the SUVs Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback, were the highlights, all set to arrive in dealerships soon.
Still, there are early indications of Fiat’s next small electric vehicle from Italy: it is expected to hit the market in 2027 under the name Koala. This was stated by Arnauld Belloni, Fiat’s new CEO, to Autocar during the 2026 Paris Auto Show.

The Fiat Koala appears to be highly advanced in development.
"We are working on several vehicles based on the E-Car platform. We are preparing a small car that will be based on the 2CV – and it will truly be surprising," Belloni explained.
François Leboine, the brand’s design chief, emphasized that the absence from the 2026 Paris Auto Show was because "it wasn’t the right time to show what we are working on." Likely, as Autocar notes, to avoid overshadowing the debut of the Citroën 2CV.

The technical foundation will be the group-wide electric car platform, which is intended to serve all of Stellantis’ electric city cars in the segment promoted by the European Union. The goal is to boost the production and marketing of electric vehicles under 4.2 meters in length. The regulatory framework is based on Japan’s Kei-cars, but with significantly larger dimensions. For example, the future 2CV concept car is 3.76 meters long.
The Panda family continues to grow
One should therefore prepare for the Fiat Koala, which will likely become part of the family surrounding the Fiat Pandina. With the Grande Panda and Grizzly, this bear-themed model line is growing larger. Stylistically, the Koala might be inspired by the concept car shown on a screen during Stellantis’ industrial plan presentation: featuring angular shapes and headlights positioned directly on the front end.
As mentioned earlier, the model is set to be built in Pomigliano d’Arco. It will share production facilities with the Citroën 2CV and possibly a corresponding Opel model as well. It remains unclear what technical platform the electric car platform will be based on. Speculations suggest it could use the Leapmotor T03 as its foundation.
