DAF completes its electric truck fleet

The Dutch manufacturer DAF will showcase a comprehensive range of electric trucks for urban, regional, and long-haul transportation at IAA Transportation 2026, including the new flagship model XG+ Electric. Additionally, DAF will expand its electric truck lineup with configurations tailored for the construction industry.

The full-electric highlights at DAF’s booth in Hall 21 are the new long-haul electric trucks, the XG Electric and XG+Electric. The main difference between these vehicles is that the driver’s cab of the XG+Electric is designed to be even larger, offering more headroom and a bigger bed among other advantages. DAF, a brand under the Paccar conglomerate, introduced both models in detail back in January and announced the start of mass production in May.
Thus, the most technical details are already known for both vehicles: they feature modular powertrains with Paccar electric motors capable of delivering up to 350 kW, along with a range of LFP battery packs that can be charged at up to 325 kW—an optional 22-kW AC onboard charger is also available. Depending on the motor power and customer preferences, three to five battery packs can be ordered, allowing a total capacity of 315 to 525 kWh—enabling a range of up to 500 kilometers.
DAF with new configurations for the construction industry
In addition, DAF is expanding its range of fully electric trucks with a variety of 6×2, 6×4, and 8×4 tractor units and trucks for specialized applications and the construction industry. The new electric 6×2 tractor units with a steerable front or rear axle are ideal for heavy distribution tasks that require additional payload capacity, optimal maneuverability, and agility, according to the Dutch company.
The 6×2 truck with a dual-tired 10-ton rear axle is another suitable option for dump trucks and applications with interchangeable payloads. For heavy-duty use in construction, DAF is introducing electric 6×4 and 8×4 models with powered tandem axles capable of carrying 19 or 21 tons per axle, available either with simply supported axles or outer-planet axles.
Specifically for BDF swap bodies in Germany, DAF has also developed 4×2 and 6×2 truck chassis with a specially designed battery configuration capable of holding up to five battery packs. According to the truck manufacturer, the Twistlocks are highly accessible, and there is seamless compatibility with BDF swap bodies without compromising range.
DAF highlights high payload capacity
DAF also emphasizes the exceptionally high payload capacity of its electric trucks. Thanks to the legally permitted additional total weight of up to two tons for electric trucks and optimal weight distribution, the XD, XF, XG, and XG+Electric models can offer up to 500 kilograms more payload than the manufacturer’s corresponding diesel models.
At the IAA Transportation, DAF also showcases a new battery arrangement. The battery pack is no longer located under the cab; instead, four packs are intelligently placed further back in the vehicle. This reduces the load on the front axle by about 700 kilograms and optimizes the vehicle’s weight distribution, allowing the payload capacity to increase by up to 2.5 tons.
