DAF completes electric truck line-up

Dutch manufacturer DAF will present a comprehensive range of electric trucks for urban, regional, and long-haul transport at IAA Transportation 2026, including the new flagship XG+ Electric. Additionally, DAF is expanding its e-truck portfolio with configurations for the construction industry.

The all-electric highlights at DAF’s stand in Hall 21 are the new long-haul battery-electric trucks: the XG Electric and XG+ Electric. The main difference between the two is that the XG+ Electric features a larger cab, offering increased standing height and a bigger bed, among other improvements. DAF, a brand of the Paccar Group, already provided detailed insights into both models in January prior to announcing the start of series production in May.
Most of the technical details for both vehicles are already known: they feature modular powertrains with electric motors from Paccar, delivering up to 350 kW, and a range of LFP battery packs that can be charged at up to 325 kW – an optional 22-kW AC onboard charger is also available. Depending on motor power and customer requirements, between three and five battery packs can be ordered. This could provide a total capacity of 315 to 525 kWh, enabling up to 500 km range.
DAF introduces new configurations for the construction sector
DAF is also expanding its range of all-electric trucks with numerous 6×2, 6×4, and 8×4 tractor units and trucks for special applications and the construction industry. According to the Dutch manufacturer: the new electric 6×2 tractor units, with steered front or rear axles, are ideally suited for heavy distribution applications where additional payload, optimal agility, and manoeuvrability are required.
The 6×2 truck with a dual-tyred 10-tonne rear axle, in turn, is a suitable choice for tipper trucks and applications involving swap bodies. For heavy-duty use in the construction industry, DAF is introducing electric 6×4 and 8×4 models with driven tandem axles for 19- and 21-tonne axle loads, respectively, available with single-reduction axles or hub-reduction axles.
Specifically for BDF swap bodies in Germany, DAF has also developed 4×2 and 6×2 truck chassis with a specially designed battery configuration for up to five battery packs. According to the truck manufacturer, the twistlocks are highly accessible, and there is seamless compatibility with BDF swap containers without compromising range.
DAF highlights payload capacity
DAF also emphasises the particularly high payload capacity of its electric trucks. Thanks to the legally permitted additional gross weight of up to two tonnes for electric trucks and optimal weight distribution, the XD, XF, XG, and XG+ Electric models can offer up to 500 kg more payload than their diesel counterparts from the manufacturer.
At IAA Transportation, DAF is also showcasing a new battery arrangement. In this configuration, no battery pack is located under the cab; instead, four packs are intelligently positioned further back on the vehicle. This reduces the front axle load by around 700 kg and optimises the vehicle’s weight distribution, allowing the payload to be increased by up to 2.5 tonnes.
